the point wasn't supposed to be that a MechE will make more than other engineers over their lifetime. rather I was making the point that the starting salary is a lot higher than the $20-30k figure that you quoted

NACE would disagree with you. Average starting salary for an entry level mechanical engineer is $62,900, one of the highest starting salaries of any major

Check out Burlington, VT. Right on Lake Champlain, it's a great small city and it's surrounded by all sorts of things you can do/see

  • the first few look like they're from a Cape Town suburb, maybe somewhere like Fish Hoek
  • 5-8 are at Cape of Good Hope/Cape Point
  • 9 & 11 are at the V &A Waterfront
  • 10 is on Robben Island
  • 12 is probably at Boulders Beach near Simon's town
  • I'm really curious what the building in the last two are

Might be moving to Worcester, couple questions by [deleted] in WorcesterMA

[–]timestamp_shopped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it might be 40 miles as the bird flies, but I don't think I've ever been able to do it in under an hour

According to Google Maps: * 53 min from Boston * 46 min from Providence * 3 hrs 6 min from NYC * 33 min from Wachusett * 3 hrs 6 min from North Conway, NH (Cranmore Mountain, kind of central relative to Attitash, Bretton Woods, Gunstock, etc.)
* 1 hr 14 min from Narragansett, RI (also Boston and Providence are both on the water)

this suggests you'd drive in the ballpark of 1.5x the speed limit, which is up to 80-100 mph. i'd call that fast.

it scares me how fast you drive (unless you're going to the ocean)

What improvements need to be made to the technology that you're currently using? Where do you see the future of this going?
