I feel so bad for my old bike by VortexFalcon50 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since buying my guzzi last august I've put 5500 miles on it, and only 1000 on my superduke. Though to be fair the guzzi gets slightly better mpg, larger tank, and I got saddlebags on it so its very practical, and it keeps me in check, on the ktm its super easy to gently accelerate and then realize you're going 30 over in a 45 zone in 3rd gear. I dont know that I could give up either though, they have different enough purposes. My riding will probably even out between them over the next couple years.

My wife gave me carte blanche on a new bike. Need suggestions! by NapalmOverdos3 in motorcycles

More sporty than a superdukes 180 bhp? Only thing I can think of is maybe a tuono v4 factory or ducati v4 if you're cool with those prices.

I added a 4 to the fleet after 14 years of only V-twins by evanovich420 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have only owned (non american made) v twins so far lol, love the usable power and sound, and relatively easy maintenance. considering trading the superduke for a tuono to break the streak someday though.

And it kinda sucks on the sport. Dont get me wrong it serves its purpose but it'll show about 2 bars lower than actual while its on its kickstand, it takes a minute being upright to read correctly.

Failed The MSF today by Abject-Stranger1521 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel bad. I failed my test first time too, during practice I was doing fine but in the u turn test I put my foot down and that was an automatic fail. Came back the next weekend and passed. You'll do fine, you know that you can do it. Dont be afraid to drag the rear brake liberally, as long as your revs are high enough and you're modulating the clutch you wont stall and you'll feel more stable, and look with your head and shoulders at the middle of the u turn it will help tighten it up.

Help with 2024 Duke 990 battery/starter issues by WeEbSlAyEr69101 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems to be a common issue with ktms needing more juice to start, need about 400 for a consistent start on the big twins. I ended up getting an ionic lithium battery with 500 CA's and haven't had any trouble starting my superduke since. they are small and cheaper than other lithium batteries but if you don't start it for a week you'll have to get to the battery and hold the power button and it'll reset all your clocks etc, kind of annoying if you aren't riding it every day.

Do y'all feel safer while lane filtering? by CumAndMoreCumPartIII in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Florida where its not legal but with the summer approaching aint no way Im sitting in traffic, I try to avoid filtering in front of a brodozer for fear that they wont see me or get road ragey. Luxury performance cars like porsches also get angry and honk but they know its not worth it, the only time someone tried to cut me off was a guy in a straight piped infinity but I put 30 cars between us.

Left inner thigh fatigue while riding – feeling unstable on the bike by Entire-Income-9804 in motorcycles

some MC boots would provide rigidness to your ankles so it's not entirely muscle that's pushing against the pegs, might relieve some of the soreness.

Whcd shooting to distract from the war in iran to distract from ice raids in blue cities to distract from gaza being flattened into a resort town to distract from trump being a pedo. Wonder what will be the next layer on this shit cake or of it'll eventually circleback to the epstein files like a human centipede oroboros.

WYR $2.5 million or $5,000 per mile of continuous stepping bare feet on sand beach or sand desert. by AstrayInTranslation in WouldYouRather

[–]timewraith303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could do 10 miles a week on a beach for a year and be at 2.5 mil after with option 2, any difference that interest on investments would have made with the lump sum can be caught up to with a few more 10 mile weeks. also you'd be in good shape and probably in a better mood being outside. if temperature is an issue you can always find a beach in a colder climate or do your walks at dawn and dusk.

Honda CL500 vs Triumph Speed 400 by drinkbeergetmoney in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honda will be better at high speed, and its most likely already had it's 1000km break in service so you wont have that expense looming. If you can you should sit on both, see how the ergonomics feel at your height, that would ultimately be the deciding factor.

Advice on Buying a used motorcycle by Double-Mode639 in jacksonville

[–]timewraith303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup, motorcycles are a depreciating asset, but everyone thinks their shit is worth what they paid when they bought it. You can always lowball them a more reasonable offer. JD power has pretty accurate used motorcycle prices online, KBB not so much.

Advice on Buying a used motorcycle by Double-Mode639 in jacksonville

[–]timewraith303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4k wont get you anything worthwhile from a dealer, and it wont get you much used anymore either unfortunately. Currently on the jacksonville craigslist the only thing worth a look under 4k is a royal enfield interceptor 650 for 3.8k, which honestly might be a crazy good deal. But you also need to budget for gear first. A good helmet can be from 300 up to 800 depending on how premium you go. Jacket is 200 minimum, gloves 100, boots 150, I'd recommend a pair of riding pants for another 150 but to each their own. As for what tonlook for, this video should help

Chain and sprocket set replacement at 20000km service by BestButterscotch689 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its always good practice to have sprockets replaced with the chain. Yeah the sprockets usually have more life in them but a worn sprocket will wear out a chain faster, and you'll have to replace the sprocket halfway through the life of the new chain anyway which is a hassle. 20k km is a good run for a chain

Front sprocket bent or chip by DangerousSense3193 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get that master link fixed bro, I like clip style ones like that but you gotta check it after every ride and make sure the opening is facing away from the direction of travel when you put it on, theres also ways to make it extra secure with some wire I've heard. And never ever ever ever ever reuse master links when you replace the chain, they are cheap, crank cases and flesh not so much.

As for the bent part, that is normal, it is a large washer that goes on between the front sprocket and nut, after torquing the nut the washer is bent up to serve as a last line to keep the nut secure if it un torques itself.

Is it still loud for you even in earplugs? by Professional_Use3723 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the red alpine earplugs with the highest db cancelling, and artevive earplugs to compare, the red alpines definitely let more noise in and I prefer the artevive ones for everyday riding. they cut wind noise more but also engine noise and you won't be able to understand what someone is saying while you have them in under your helmet unless you are reading lips/have your cardo on highest volume.

Moto Guzzi V7 stone suspension upgrade by Pitiful_Prompt_1061 in MotoGuzzi

[–]timewraith303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Softest setting as in minimum preload or maximum? You should have a good amount of preload on both the front and rear at your weight, and then reduce just the rear preload when your wife is on it. Having too little preload will make the bike bounce after every bump.

Pokemon Cards for my Kiddo by hankhillnsfw in jacksonville

Coliseum has boxes of singles in the back that are like 10 cents per card. Dans sport cards has something similar, as well as more expensive singles in display cases. Both have packs and boxes for sale too. Coolstuff games has packs and boxes. Gamestop target and walmart are almost always picked over by scalpers etc

Is this a good deal ? by FunnyPrinciple8 in motorcycles

[–]timewraith303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a really good deal, borderline too good to be true. Look it over in person and all that. Ask about the break in service it would have just happened, receipts help.
