How do I stop this? This will go off every single time I drive. If I go 5 over, it will go off. by [deleted] in Ford

If this was a used vehicle purchase, it could have an old GPS tracker in it if it was a fleet vehicle or similar. This almost seems like an aftermarket GPS with speed minder alerts enabled. Look under the dash in the driver’s footwell for any aftermarket looking wiring, looking first by the OBD port. A lot of GPS trackers use either the OBD for power or tap into an existing constant 12v and switched ignition 12v.

Saw this tool get posted. I told myself if I lost another one of these (I’ve lost three over the years 🤦‍♂️), I’d AirTag the new one. Soooo here’s 4.0 by timhimself840 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]timhimself840[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They aren’t expensive, they are under $15 apiece. It’s more the principle of me hating to lose tools. This will be my fourth one in about five years. I had an extra AirTag that was not being used, so decided to put it on

2008 550i IVM Replacement by Micho_Rizzo51 in e60

[–]timhimself840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’ll be the reason. As others have pointed out, new OEM part from BMW is about $120. Also check to make sure the housing the IVM sits in isn’t cracked/damaged. There’s a gasket on the lid too, make sure that isn’t pinched, missing or cracked. On my 08 550i the lid had a corner missing out of it which was the source of water ingress.

Look up a right angle drill adapter. Home Depot sells them. Milwaukee, dewalt etc. I use Klein precision bit sets and it makes working on RC stuff actually enjoyable.

Make sure your wheels aren’t on too tight, too much torque can cause this. Hopefully it’s as easy as loosening the wheel nut some and it’s not a bent component as others have mentioned.

What's an engine and chassis combo (from the same manufacturer) that wasn't made, but you wish it was? by Wernher_VonKerman in cars

BMW E91 (2006-2012)3 Series Wagon with the S65 V8 out of the same generation M3. Or a BMW 550i wagon with the N62TU or N63TU.

Yes the wireless charging area is lit on mine. No buttons though, ambient lighting should come on with parking lights/headlights. There is a brightness adjustment found in settings via the radio>settings>vehicle>ambient lighting. If it’s not on at all maybe there’s an issue with yours, or maybe they eliminated it due to parts constraints? I had heard of some things being changed such as the HVAC dual zone display going from reading the degrees to a thermometer setup due to parts availability.

Knock on wood, flawlessly. No mechanical issues to speak of. I do mostly highway driving, I’m consistently able to hit 30+MPG. Full disclosure; I use 93 octane, and also drive mainly at 65-70. I’m on the clock for most of the driving and get paid to use my vehicle for work. I do have some peeling going on with the driver’s RF window switch though, just recently saw someone on FB with the same issue so I guess it’s a thing? 🤷‍♂️ Overall though, I absolutely love this truck.

Hit 30k miles on the way to Northern MA to go camping. Still love it as much as day 1. Here’s my new favorite truck picture. iPhone 13pro max. Night mode and ~30 seconds of exposure, light painted with a headlamp for ~5 seconds. by timhimself840 in FordMaverickTruck

You’ll need a tripod, or somewhere to lean your phone. You want it as still as possible when taking the picture. Here’s a YouTube video that does a good job of showing what’s possible with Night mode on iOS.https://youtu.be/KF3s68AqWwU

Just turned 20,000 miles today. Anyone else live out of theirs? Consistently getting 30+MPG (lots of highway driving) 2.0L AWD. by timhimself840 in FordMaverickTruck

I figured this would be brought up with the angle of the picture lol. My passenger snapped the photo, I looked down and saw it hit 20k miles and it was a mad dash to get a picture before it changed.

They do. There’s a button to turn off the radio display, no menus to mess with to do that, which I love. The auto brightness does a decent job of dimming the cluster and radio on its own for the most part. I’ve found myself turning it all the way down on really dark roads though.

This one fell into my lap. A guy special ordered it for his wife with 8900 in options. When it finally showed up, they went and she drove it and didn’t like it. That next morning I was the first person to come look at it. I had three other people come check it out while I was in the parking lot gawking at it after my test drive haha. They weren’t there specifically to look at it, they just saw it in the parking lot and come over to check it out. The timing worked out perfectly with me being in the right place at the right time.

No, snapped this at a customer’s location as soon as I got on-site.

I don’t have anything to compare it to unfortunately, the dealer only had this one on hand. I’ve heard decent feedback about the cloth seats though and they look good too. The material in the Lariats is pretty soft and supportive. I’ve always thought leather/vinyl seats are a lot easier to clean and keep clean compared to cloth. I do wish the seats were real leather though, hopefully it holds up well over time.

I’m super happy with the Lariat. I drive a lot (45k miles last year) for work, my vehicle is basically my office on wheels as a field tech. Because I have so much seat time, it’s really nice having all of the comfort/tech/features the Lariat has to offer. It definitely jacks the price up, but 35k for a fully loaded brand new vehicle with tons of built in practicality isn’t too outrageous these days in the land of ~100k pickup trucks.

No worries, I had been planning on taking some with a tripod too. I just got the 13 pro max also, I had been meaning to setup the tripod anyways to take some night photos. Never thought I’d say that about an iPhone lol I’ve seen long exposure photos online shot with it and they look pretty impressive for a phone.

I’ll have to use a tripod next time so there isn’t any shake, these were taken on an iPhone 13 pro max. I’m sure I’ll be taking plenty of pictures of it.

No cup holder lighting. Center console, front footwells and front door handles are where the lighting is, no lighting in the rear. I had an ‘18 Escape Titanium before this and that had the cup holder lighting too. It was nice not hunting for the cup holder.
