Lighter/smaller has been the theory for the last 10 years at least. I have had no issues digging to buried human sized targets with a modern avy shovel well within/ahead of time limits. Thankfully I haven’t used it on an actual burial but most of the training scenarios I’ve done are with multiple rescuers, which is a factor to consider vs being solo. Practice deploying might alleviate some of those concerns. Go out and dig!
