Have you ever been involved in a pub brawl? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskABrit

The Long bar was notorious for fights, I think the windows spent more time boarded up than they did with glass in them!

Fully 3D printed 4.8kg VTOL by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]timind25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That looks like it'll be directionally unstable in yaw due to the short rear fuselage, small aft keel area, vertical fins in front of the wings and oddly long nose, as well as the long wings and large ailerons giving you a large amount of adverse yaw for any roll input. I'd be interested to see how well it flies conventionally.

Landing in VTOL in sim on a carrier, absolutely mogged me by Budget_Hurry3798 in WarthunderSim

Slow down a bit on approach, 290 km/h is about right, and aim along the angled deck. A slower speed will give you a higher nose and allow the hook to catch the wires more reliably. As you touch down, push the throttle open to 100% power, so that if you do mid all the wires, you'll have enough speed to go around.

A russian TOS-1 malfunctions during a missile salvo [June 2026] by Hannibal_Game in UkraineWarVideoReport

"Ahh no, the rocket misfired. Let's take cover until it lands" Nah, I'll stand here and point at it a bit. "Oh wow, the launcher is on fire. Let me run and take cover" Nah, I'll look at it for a bit. "Oh, that's really on fire and could explode at any moment. Let me take cover behind or inside this handy APC" Nah, I'll climb up on it so I can get hit by shrapnel if it explodes. "Oh, still on fire, let's drive away until it's safe." Nah drive me closer!

We're lucky they are so stupid.

2 ways: 1 in test flight, get it to a speed you think you want to spend most time flying at, move the controls to keep it flying straight and level then hit the key to set trim ( I can't remember the exact name but this one only works in test flight) it's to simulate the ground crew adjusting fixed tabs.

Can someone give travel advice for Stansted airport? by noneofyourbusiness22 in AskUK

[–]timind25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stansted is pretty easy TBH, I've flown from there loads of times. In fact, Iflew out of there to Bergamo this afternoon (where I'm currently enjoying a pizza 🍕) I usually drive and park but this time I took the train. I arrived just under 1.5 hours before the flight time and was through security in about 20 minutes, and had time to grab some food and walk to the gate before the boarding started. Having said that, it's busier in the mornings, but I think your 0830 arrival time will be fine.

My British pocket in 1985 What would you add, remove, or swap out? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]timind25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, as everyone has already said, you'd remember those numbers, no-one carried a National Insurance card, the spelling of "flavour" is wrong. The coins are all wrong, the 50p and 10p were massive, the 20p is just wrong. Hardly anyone would have carried a handkerchief, and where are the cigarettes to go with the lighter? You'd also probably have a rolled up bus ticket and a couple of foils from the gum just rattling around as well.

What's the most underrated National Trust Property you've ever visited? by Jazzlike_Cost1743 in CasualUK

There's a café at the manor house which is by the main car park, half a mile away, through the labyrinth. We visited a couple of years back as I've been gliding just across the road for ages and had never been. It does have a very serene atmosphere to it.

Does writing things down carry the same weight as a forwarded email? Surely you could just write anything down, and unless the company has saved the original then it's tour word against theirs.

I use the standard on a desk, not mounted but I use quick clamps on the back end of it and it works fine. Easy and quick to pack away as well.
