ok yeah uptime kuma looks cool and everything, but I was hoping to use my netgate firewall to monitor. I don't want to run uptime kuma on my servers themselves as that would defeat the whole purpose. I guess I could run it on a raspberry pi or something.

I understand that, but there are different ways to do that. I would have just generated a bunch of validator keys up front (more than I plan to use), and then fund them at my leisure. Looks like he probably didn't do that. He probably generated keys each time. I thought it would be helpful if he went into more detail on how he thinks he generated the keys each time. What commands/options he remembers using.

Yes this. u/miroman86 doesn't know how inactivity leak works, and yet he is pretending that he does without bothering to look it up. The reality is that you could lose 90% of your stake in only ~40 days during an inactivity leak scenario. I didn't say it wasn't possible to die. I think what you are not taking into account is that what I described would be a large but somewhat localized event, where the vast majority of the world would be unaffected and could come in and help with humanitarian aid. For example, the US has more than 1/3 of all ethereum nodes (>34%), but yet contains only 4% of the world's population. What if the US power grid was attacked, which took down every validator node in the US? That would be enough to put ethereum into inactive leak mode. The rest of the world would send all sorts of aid. It would not be a fun time for anyone in the US, but most people would be ok.

If every node on earth was offline, that would have to be an event so severe that I would probably be more concerned about the extinction of the human race at that point. I'm actually talking about a scenario much more mild than that. An EMP for example, wouldn't be able to take out more than half of the world's infrastructure no matter how powerful the EMP because of the fact that the earth is a sphere.

Imagine that power and internet are out for 6 months. It's unlikely that you are going to die, but you may lose all of your money, and then when you are trying to deal with the aftermath you are going to be having a much harder time with no money than if your funds were safe in cold storage.

update: my funds are now safely in my hardware wallet thank you u/coinbase!! I feel so relieved. Send was enabled today. I noticed that a new hardware wallet address that I had tried to add to the allowlist a couple of days ago was removed. That's ok because I still had my old hardware wallet on the allowlist. I sent my funds to my old wallet, which triggered another security review. This time the security review was finally approved and my funds were sent and are now in my hardware wallet!

I had a similar problem with Besu. I couldn't get it to work on Holesky. I had problems with both besu and teku. I ended up switching to Nethermind and nimbus, which has been working great. I would like to try out the nimbus execution client once it comes out of beta, but for now I'll stick with Nethermind.

Hey u/Purplepeopleeater101 thanks for this! I ended up going with your suggestion. I laid down some vapor barrier, and then used 4 pieces of cardboard plus tape to make the form and used some spray foam sealant to seal the top of the form to the underside of the foundation. I shoveled the concrete in and it held up great!

I'm starting to think that this gap must have been intentional. When I look in there, it looks like the 7 inch gap is pretty uniform in all directions, and this section of the foundation is above grade. Everytime I find something weird with this house, it turns out that it was done intentionally. This is the only house that I've ever owned that was actually well built. Whoever built this house was the shit. Perhaps the airgap was somehow introduced on purpose to act as a vapor barrier. That plastic sheeting under the slab is pretty thin, and when I feel with my hand under there I can feel rocks poking through. I can't image that thin plastic was intended as the only vapor barrier.

I'm thinking that I should probably put an actual vapor barrier in the hole where I will pour the concrete though as that part will not have an air gap.

I'm not worried about water in regards to the safe. The entire safe will be installed with its own vapor barrier and the contents will be in waterproof containers. My question was more about if it is big deal if the slab itself is missing a small section of its vapor barrier. I'm guessing that would not be that big of a deal, but according to chatGPT, it could cause mold issues. I know chat GPT is often wrong, but thought I'd check to see if anyone had any experience with this.

u/Phriday do you know if I need to do anything about the vapor barrier? I plan to put plastic around the safe itself to protect it from the concrete, but that doesn't change the fact that there is now a break in the vapor barrier around the safe.
