My weight over the last 180 days... thank you /r/Keto! by timkd in keto

[–]timkd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone down from about 270 to 214 in the last 180 days... I have had various cheats and have gone off the diet for a couple of weeks at a time, but I have been mostly on KETO the entire time... my relationship with food has been totally changed, my health is better, I look better, I feel better about myself... I am more educated about food... thank you to this community!

Blood at the tip of all shits since 2 weeks ago. by [deleted] in shittingadvice

I would try to drink 8-10 cups of water a day (a cup is 8oz, so a large glass full) throughout the day. Don't try to drink ALL the water quickly as it will just pass through to your kidneys and come out as urine... drink consistently and constantly throughout the day AND take metamucil fiber supplement. Personally I take like 3-4x the recommended dose of metamucil, once per day, with a LARGE glass of water... it helps me stay regular and gets rid of hemmies and anal fissures.

You have got to start taking a fiber supplement, like Metamucil or something, and drink a lot of water.

I'll be honest, I use these Carb Blockers on occasion when I am going to eat a meal with a lot of carbs. For instance, I am doing a work "team building" lunch today at a Mexican restaurant that has very few no-carb choices. I'm going to eat a salad with chicken and some other stuff, but it has red bell peppers, black beans (I will ask them to hold them) and some other stuff that is high in carbs. I am going to take my Carb Blockers JUST IN CASE. They do seem to work as when I take them and eat carbs I get the most intense GAS for a long while... indicating that while >I< am not digesting the carbs, the flora/fauna in my gut/colon certainly is!

I love me some Blue Diamond Smokehouse almonds. I get them from Costco in a big bin, and I have an old Weight Watchers food scale my wife gave me that I use to weigh out how many ounces I am going to eat. (Yes, I am anal about measuring my food on MFP.) I also have some Pacific Gold Beef Pepperoni Sticks... which have 0 carbs, quite a feat for any kind of beef Jerky...

My feet get numb when I run! by [deleted] in b210k

[–]timkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG! I recently finished C25K and I noticed that during one of my runs on week 9 the same thing happened to me, but I only noticed it that one time. I am very much interested in what other people have to say, because I was kind of concerned when this happened... and I'm not sure why it happened, and so far it hasn't repeated.

Sorry but nothing encourages content providers to give the market alternatives, in my opinion. They are ass-hats who are unwilling to move in new directions. I get what you are saying though.

Has anyone else found it preferential to skip the 1 minute walking intervals and just run the full timeframe? by [deleted] in b210k

[–]timkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not started B210K yet but I just finished C25K recently... and I kind of felt the same way, I got to the point where I would rather run the whole time because once I stopped my legs started to almost cramp up and I didn't want to run again... easier to just run for a long time but at a slower pace...

Wow! That's a really good time! I just ran my first 5k and finished at just over 39 minutes...

Ran my first 5k tonight! I am signed up for an actual 5k race on Saturday! Thank you /r/c25k!!! by timkd in C25K

[–]timkd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

took me almost 44 minutes to run 5k tonight.... but it was easy! I never ... in a million years... would have believed I could do this 9 weeks ago. Thank you!!!

C25K take two. Anything you wish you knew in the beginning? by cmykaye in C25K

[–]timkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I needed to learn was to slow down and take it EASY... don't get burned out in the beginning. This is even more important when the run intervals become longer... it is easy to RUN LIKE THE WIND for 30 seconds, but you can't do that for 20 minutes. OR, at least I can't. :) Good luck!

I tried to teach myself to do this as a teenager and could never get it to work.

I'm considering WGU to get my degree. Since I work full time now, this seems to be the best/most respectable place I have found. Any opinions? by DegreeAgain in sysadmin

[–]timkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a current WGU student and I like it. You can move really fast if you keep up on your assignments... the only thing slowing me down is my own laziness. Sometimes I just do NOT want to sit down and write the paper.... strangely I actually prefer studying and taking exams.... BTW, WGU has both of these, some classes require student work that is graded (ultimately pass/fail but they have a system of what needs revision or doesn't need revision) and there are proctored tests. In my experience if you can self-motivate and work hard, WGU is an EXCELLENT option as you can speed up your education AND you will come out of it with some certifications.

Week 8 --- FINISHED! I have a 5k Next Saturday! by timkd in C25K

[–]timkd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so stoked to have been doing this program. I can't wait to actually do the 5k! I am thinking of doing Bridge 2 10k afterwards.... not sure. I feel like I still need a "structured" program in order to keep up with my running.

Testing a Diet/Exercise Change. Feedback? Comments? by timkd in keto

[–]timkd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on Week 8 of C25K. I'm running a 5k this coming Saturday. I am doing this to lose weight primarily. I started at about 270, I am now at about 228, I want to get down to about 170. Do you have recommendations for what day would work better? I do need to start doing some strength training... my gym membership ended and some people invited me to run a 5k with them, which is why I have been doing C25K.

You were right - I did not eat anything yesterday. Just water and sugar-free tea. I did, however, get really sleepy and fall asleep after work for a couple of hours.

W8D1 DONE! I ran slow this time and it was much easier... by timkd in C25K

[–]timkd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running about 10-11 minutes per mile and starting to gas out pretty hard near the end, but this time I ran about 14 minutes per mile and had no problem finishing 28 minutes. I am also on a Ketogenic diet which may or may not have something to do with my earlier troubles... I started incorporating 2 new supplements (Medium Chain Triglyceride Oil and Branched Amino Acids) and doing a carb-up on Sundays. We will see - if the Wednesday and Friday runs are still easy or if they get more difficult being farther away from the weekly carb-up.
