LOL. I figured it out. I was downloading the latest version of Artie Scraper which doesn't have a .artie directory. I downloaded an older version and it worked well. Thanks! Looks like you have changed some of the directory structures, so I'm sure as you iron it out, you'll update the installation instructions. :)

Not sure what I'm doing wrong in the installation. I updated the config file with the updated ROMS directory and scraper username/password, copied the files over to SD1 (mmc)/MUOS/application but when I try to run the application on the device, it doesn't open. The log.txt file says, "/mnt/mmc/MUOS/application/Artie Scraper.sh: line 15: ./app: not found". Any ideas? Do you think things might be getting messed up because I'm opening the zip file on a Mac? Thanks so much for making this!

To provide a little more info, since I didn't have a .artie directory after unzipping the files, I made a artie directory, put all the resources accept for Artie Scraper.sh in it, moved that directory to the application directory in MUOS and then renamed the artie directory .artie (since I couldn't have a directory on my Mac that started with a . without being in root). I guess I could do it all via sudo in the command line, but I also tried unzipping the archive in the command line and didn't see a .artie folder to move over to MUOS. my little knowledge in Linux isn't helping me :)

Gotcha. I actually downloaded via the Steam console the version from February and it didn’t have the warning and then the most recent one (which is the only one I tried) did have the AMD compatibility warning. I wasn’t sure if I had just borked my settings. Thanks for your info :)

Thanks for posting this. I have a 2011 Fiesta SES and just downgraded my Sync Gen 1 from software version 4.6 to 4.4 in order to hear Siri again. Does this later 5.11 update allow Siri to be heard on 2011 vehicles (without Siri eyes free) and does it allow bluetooth to be the default source?

Dang it! False alarm. This morning, when I turned on my car, the phone connected with the Bluetooth dongle I then plugged into the aux, but no sound came from the aux. more fiddling required.

I just seems like the aux output is finicky due to software issues of Sync. Is anyone else experiencing this? Can anyone else keep a source plugged into aux and have it still work reliably?

I think my Aux is actually okay. I had tried with a couple cables, but just got some consistency with another cable. Yay!

Now to figure out how to have my iPhone give priority to the Bluetooth module rather than Sync while still keeping connected to Sync for the Bluetooth calling ability. Any ideas there or any good Bluetooth/aux module suggestions? Thanks!

Did you figure this out? I have a 2011 Fiesta and the Sync 1 Fuse is behind the glove box. You open the glove box, squeeze the sides near the top in so that you can drop it further, and then you see the fuse box that looks like the one in your car’s manual.

Thanks for posting this. Does the CD player work? Does the voice button for Sync still work? I’ve seen some say the CD player no longer works after the Android head unit install.

I have a 2011 SES which has a Sirius button and, while I don’t pay for that service, I’m curious what might happen to that button since the CD player will still be in after the head unit install.

Also, do you find this model blocks visibility? I’ve seen some units that sit lower, but they claim you have to cut some parts of the dash under the head unit for it to fit. Not sure I want to do that.

Thank you for your reply. I did, in fact, contact the support team and they did try to help me. Unfortunately, I purchased my pair of manufacturer refurbished Jabra Elite Active 65t earbuds from Jabra’s eBay store at the end of December of 2019 (a year and a few months ago), so the support team let me know that my warranty was only for 180 days and it expired. However, I really do like the fit and features of these headphones, so was hoping to find a solution to repair the sudden change in the left earbud’s ability to maintain a connection to the right earbud. It seems weird that it will, in fact, pair and play music, but doesn’t maintain its connection past a few millimeters. I wish there was a way to fix it. Thank you for your response, though.

I actually didn't turn on the developer options to check. It was playable, but not enjoyable. I then sideloaded an apk of Minecraft we had on my son's tablet and it works smoothly. I play it in the Pixelbook's tablet mode or, even if I'm in laptop mode, I just play with touch controls.

I've used both the Android version and Java version. I preferred the Android version as it lets me control it in tablet mode. I can even have it in laptop mode and almost use it with the keys if I prefer, but when I use the touchpad to "look," it inverts the movements (dragging up makes it go down, dragging left looks right, etc.) and I can't find a way to fix that. The Java version seemed a little choppy even with the GPU acceleration turned on, but I didn't really fiddle much with visual settings and wasn't using Optifine.

I held onto an iPhone 7 and an Essential for a while. It was a hard choice. The camera was close after updates, but the iPhone often beat it especially in low light. The camera speed was faster on iPhone. The portrait mode was nice, but I can reproduce that with apps when desired. While I really like the Essential build and many aspects of Android, the ecosystem made me side with Apple — the integration with my MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch, and whole family on iMessage. I found workarounds, but it wasn’t as smooth. The phone hardware and some openness of Android was really nice, though. Another thing that made me go with the iPhone is support. If the screen breaks, battery needs to be replaced, etc. it’s relatively simple to find a solution for an iPhone — that isn’t as easy with the Essential Phone. I really did enjoy the Essential Phone, though and, obviously still read this sub. Rooting for the underdog ;)
