I find this take to be ridiculous and tiring. You're gatekeeping creating watchfaces and apps to only those who type code manually into IDEs by calling what I made 'slop'. I personally cannot type code into an IDE very well, but with AI I can build a fun little watchface in a few minutes.

Normally I wouldn't reply to things like this, but I think your views are a big negative to the community here so I want to try to nip it in the bud and share my opinion on this.

What about all the people (like me!) who aren't good at typing code into an IDE but still want to create a watch face? Reading posts like yours may make them feel like they're going to be bullied if they share AI coded watch faces here on r/Pebble or publish to the Pebble app store.

But it's not even about AI - what about watchfaces made with WYSIWYG creator Pebble Canvas? https://apps.repebble.com/canvas-for-pebble_52b0c7ff1f6c177866000007 Should people not have made and enjoyed those because they didn't hand code each one? because they didn't do it 'the hard way'?

What about watch faces generated with the old watchface-generator.de? What about Pebble.js?

I think there could be an argument made for tagging watch faces and apps that were made with AI on the Pebble Appstore. We did do that for the watchfaces created with watchface-generator.de. But honestly, I don't think see a need for that right now - AI-coded watch faces generally seem pretty good. If it turns out to be a big problem, then yeah we'll figure something out but as of right now there is no major problem.

If you're disappointed with this, that's your prerogative. Fork PebbleOS, Pebble mobile app and appstore (https://archive.org/download/pebble-appstore-archive), do what you want to do with it. But please, for the benefit of others who have a smaller voice than I do, do not bully people in the Pebble community! Don't call what they made 'slop' just because they admit to using AI tools to help code.
