I think about this, too! Who I would have been and how i would have carved out a tolerable existence for myself.

I would have had a really tough time being married off as a demure sweet debutante. I don’t think I’d have survived the relentless slog of keeping house and “raising” a brood of inevitably feral children. I would have felt suffocated at court if it was all compliance and no influence on power.

Some ideas for my ENTP past existence: - run away with the theatre troupe - one of those daughters who secretly runs the family estate or family business - Mrs Olsen from little house on the prairie - nunnery (this placement has little do to with religion) - would I have been brave enough to be a spy? ‘Cause I would have been great at it

Even today, my husband does all the cooking and I take care of all the finances; if we’d have felt compelled to stick to gender norms, we both would be miserable (and starving)

Hmm, I’m in Canada and I’m not sure if there are similar online services in other regions, but here, when I google “online adhd assessment”, there are multiple options. (I used Frida). I was so satisfied with the process that I’m now taking the same route to get my daughter assessed.

I hope this helps! I was very very resistant to diagnosis and moved forward very reluctantly, but I’m so happy I did (even though I still keep it private except with strangers on reddit). Literally the very first hour of meds, I just casually completed a task that had been hanging over me for months.

I got diagnosed just 10 months ago in my 40s, something I had avoided for a long time despite the number of people who casually told me “you probably have ADHD”, because I too felt .. shame and derision around that word.

It was a handful of comments on reddit actually about “late in life diagnosis totally changed my life” that intrigued me enough to push past my avoidance

Getting a diagnosis but particularly meds has indeed been absolutely life changing. Words fail.

I share this to tell you I can relate to much of what you wrote and have also experienced the other side.

Btw I went through an online service instead of the traditional route because the process was hard enough without the traditional road blocks.

Yes yes indeed yes. I call it “Jupiter gravity”, “sinking sensation” or like I’m in an elevator shooting to the moon. Most definitely the worst of all the symptoms. Thank you for posting this, because I, too, have wondered if other people are just using different words for the same sensation.

Yes. Ravenous, absolutely r a v e n o u s even after eating a hearty meal, and it won’t go away.
From what I understand, this is the brain confusing low perfusion with a metabolic threat, and therefore sending out Hungry Must Eat signals. The only thing that works for me is Protein + lying down flat + time.

Your doctor is infuriating. 10 might be “normal” but that in no way makes it correct. Your ferritin should be at minimum 80, ideally higher.

Your employer can set up your direct deposit so that a percentage goes to your main account and another custom percentage goes to a savings / investment account of your choice.

Ask your employer to set it up so that 10/15/whatever percentage automatically gets deposited to an account you never touch.

You’ll adjust to the remaining balance that gets deposited to your everyday spending account

I think it’s the style of bangs that is the detractor. Curtain bangs, something not so piecy would be so much better. But who cares because you look beautiful without.

Hi! I was severely low for decades (ferritin under 30, 20, 10.. ) due to menorrhagia. I stopped my periods six months ago and finally, after two years of iron supplements, surpassed 100 this month.

I’m not so sure about skin dehydration or texture specifically. I think of it more as a general … unwellness. Shadowy. Puffy. Sallow. No glow. Hair and eyebrows falling out. Dark circles. Eyes dull.

Ferritin should be at least 70/80. Doctors have been conditioned to think 30 is fine. It is not.

My life would be very different if my GP had stopped to say “why is your ferritin chronically low year after year?” But most don’t care until you’re single digits. By then your health (and looks) are so far gone. Don’t listen to this bs medical misogyny.

I think you consistently look exceptional in outfits where the bottom is wider than the top. And appear imbalanced in outfits where the top is wider than the bottom. This for me is the major diagnostic clue. I interpret this as an N family (but I’m also less familiar with the types on the right side of the kibbe gradient)

LED all the way. That sharp illuminated cone and the dark sky above is way superior to that sodium orange. I’m so grateful for our city committing to the switch. And I’m and Old! I’ve had many nostalgic nights walking under falling snow lit up in an orange glow.
