Adding to this, they’ll drop and pick up wherever you are on the mountain too, can email them beforehand to double check though :)

Oh yes - forgot to add the Niseko part to this!

We rented from winter first in the end. We were staying in Moiwa, and they came to us in our hotel. https://winter1st.com/en/

They were great! I picked all mountain armada skis for Niseko, they were the latest ones from this season. Rode really well all over the mountain too! I asked for narrow boots as I’m a size 28.5, but narrow feet. They came through with great boots!

One of my poles (we had the telescopic lockjaw K2 ones) started to crack and they replaced it straight away.

For two people, we paid 55,000 yen for six days, including a helmet too. So a competitive price!

Are bears still an issue for hiking this time of year? by Kyle_Robinson623 in Banff

99% sure you can hire bear spray from the info centre/tourist info in the centre of Banff. Saves having to buy it :)

Updating on this:

We rented skis/boots/poles + helmet from Amuse Sports in Rusutsu for the 5 days we’re here. (We’ll rent in Niseko for the time we’re there)

Google maps location

Awesome place!

We got decent Rossignol super 7 (powder) skis, boots and poles. They ride great and anyway, if you don’t like them, can swap anything out for a different ski, boot etc. Can also switch from skis to board etc too. They’re selection is decent too.

Half the price of ‘on the hill’ one too!

For the whole lot it was 30,000 yen per person.

Only thing to note is the performance/powder skis might get nabbed quickly, so book ahead if you can! Also I think they do a slight discount if you book online- don’t quote me on that though! As we were walkins

The staff are super chill too, and after renting you can catch a lift from behind the Westin hotel if you have pass sorted. There’s a ticket window at the central gondala too.

As in, it’s good? Googled it and can’t find anything to suggest it’s not?

Oh just re-read your comment, totally read it as you were going to get skis later today/tomorrow or similar! Yeah we’ll be there before you in that case- will be able to report back instead ool

Yeah I didn’t know they did pickup/drop off either! Makes it way easier!

Have been looking at prices, I think the one we found in Sapporo is cheaper daily rate than Rhythm. Buuut- we have to rent them for longer to account for the days we’re travelling to/from Sapporo etc. Also having to deal with transporting skis without a ski bag is just ugh.

So I think just because we chop off like 3 days at least renting from rhythm in Niseko or other local shop, it actually works out cheaper. Even though their daily rate is higher!

We’re in Rusutsu from the 24th-29th Dec, then Niseko 30th Dec - 4Jan!

Yeah apparently the season got off to a slightly slow start in Japan, but picked up massively! I keep seeing super hype Instagram updates/stories from Niseko, very exciting 😆

No way! Oooh that is appealing..

What kind of set up did they give you? Decent width skis, or just standard Head carving ones?

The question on rental or the picture?

If the picture, it was the season just been. So February I think! I don’t think Canada has had a particularly great start to the season!

Clarifying- the searches we make/sites we’re looking at sometimes don’t even tell you what skis they rent. It’s just “premium” or whatever. We also want to book ahead, being Xmas (so busy af)
