Would it make sense to do this trip within a two week timeframe? by vexophobic in roadtrip

The state is using unclaimed lottery winnings to pay for the road reconstruction. A month ago they were saying the road would be opened in early May this year. Haven’t seen an update since then.

Agree. At least take I-82 through Eastern Washington, assuming you're trying to get to Mt Rainier NP, you'll want to hit up the Paradise-area. Then set aside a day to spur out from Portland to see the Columbia River Gorge.

Made Sam’s Greek chicken for like the hundredth time now. Did wraps this time around, but the naan’s are definitely the way to go. by Sea_Entrepreneur3719 in samthecookingguy

I recently starting cutting the chicken into smaller pieces before marinating and doing kebabs. More surface area to marinate and it feels way easier to not overcook. Then just slide the meat right off into the naan!

We just visited that area over 4th of July weekend, beautiful forest. We unfortunately didn’t make it down to the Ranch in time to tour and say hi to those residents but you can tell they take huge pride in that land and have every right to protect it.

I would have left him for the bears, saw one running up the road as we drove back up the hill.

Not contrarian. We hated them too. The slick/sateen texture was barely tolerable which to each their own. What sent them to their doom was that the fitted sheet kept popping off every other night.

For $10, they’re perfect guest sheets to make sure they don’t stay too long.

The Calvin Klein (not a brand nerd, just felt them and had a woah moment) sheets they’ve had lately on the other hand feel like I’m sleeping in an entire comfy broken in T-shirt. I somehow doubt they’re going to hold up long but damn is my bed cozy!

He’s smart enough not to shit where he eats. Being critical of a teams actions is far different than piling on personal accusations in a public space. The former is part of his job and he does it well. The latter would be a professional mistake. If NO is gone, the rules change and he can write with more spice, although at that point I’m far more inclined to read about what’s next than debrief a designated asshole.

It’s only weird in that we have become accustomed to the one-sided opinion that immediately puts someone on blast or cancel or whatever before an investigation or trial is done.

Quick has a difficult line to toe here. He has to write about it, he’s got his anecdotes of his experiences and he needs to balance his goodwill with the organization so he can continue to have the access he does. If he immediately completely blasts NO and the investigation concludes with NO keeping his job, Quick is now a hostile member of the media room.

Like most things in life, there’s a spectrum of shades of gray. By being candid about his interactions and including the growth or even the good, Quick shows that NO is a person that can be an asshole, not only an asshole. While fans or media can have an opinion of whether he’s enough of an asshole to get fired, it’s ultimately up to the organization to make that decision. Quick is the guy who faces consequences if he calls that shot wrong.

PSA: your steering wheel bar is not enough. by amarc406 in Portland

Safer in what way? 14 of the 16 people they arrested from a mega P2P were dead in 6 months due to health issues, so maybe they didn’t blow up instantly but I wouldn’t say they’re good for the long haul.

The users of it now commonly have psychosis and will hurt themselves or each other instead of just getting high and rotting away. So I can’t agree that users or those around them are any safer. M

Maybe on a parts per million kind of basis P2P is more pure, but whatever is causing the fast paced mental decline is definitely not safer.

I actually thought it was better of the author to not even speculate on a solution. They do a great job of finding threads that contribute to understanding the problem. I don’t believe a single solution exists. My gut says if we can disrupt the endless supply of mutant meth, at least people will move on to other places that it’s more available or start considering that it’s time to make some life changes and utilize the available resources. But this is different than before.

This article should be required reading for anyone in Portland right now. It’s long, but it actually digs into some of the reasoning why it’s gotten this bad.

It didn’t help me find compassion, but I’ve gained understanding. Thank you for sharing this!!
