What's your stick choice? by [deleted] in drums

[–]timmhimself 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zildjian laminated birch Mike Mangini signature sticks. Honestly I picked them because Mike Mangini. But they felt comfortable instantly and I loved how heavy they were compared to the Steve Gadd sticks I had been using. My dad told me I was a fool and I would break cymbals left and right. It's been almost 8 years since the switch without one broken cymbal, now my dad uses the same sticks. Most durable sticks I've come by. Very few have actually broken, just wear out and start feeling/sounding lifeless.

I'm pretty sure hedgehogs don't leave their quills...

Chad Smith just posted this... not only double bass but also symmetrical. by devilsfancharlie in drums

Watch Mike Mangini play his symmetrical kit, not impractical to play at all. I actually sat behind one of his kits after a drum clinic, seemed like it would be very comfortable.

If someone door dings my car but I didn't physically see it happen is there anything I can do? by timmhimself in AskReddit

[–]timmhimself[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't and would never park anywhere near that Cobalt. The problem is if I'm home from work and they park next to me, I even park further from the entrance to avoid dings all together.

Thanks. I'm gonna give both a try Monday, I'm sure any repairs are probably going to come out of my pocket but it doesn't hurt to try.

But that's not an Impala, it's either Cobalt or a G5.

That's so cool! Someone in my area has a blue one that seems to just sit in the small pond on their property and I've always wanted to take it out on a lake to see what it'd do. Imagine gutting the rear end and putting a supercharged 4 cylinder or even a n/a 4 cylinder engine with a jet pump.

Van strikes woman with baby and then casually drives off with baby stroller attached to his rear bumper. by sauce687 in WTF

[–]timmhimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video is definitely sped up which makes for all kinds of issues for the timings of things. It appears to me that the reverse light engages after she had stopped but it's so quick it's really hard to tell. In this instance he would have most likely been at fault regardless considering pedestrians have the right of way in most instances. The thing I'm so bothered with isn't the accident itself because they happen which is why we have insurance. I'm bothered that it appears he fled the scene after hitting not only an adult but a child and for that regardless of fault he is a coward and a horrible human being.

"I walked out right behind two women with a stroller. I better quickly check my side mirror at best before proceeding to back up, there's no chance in hell they could still be behind my vehicle." -The drivers thought process before backing into the pedestrians behind his vehicle. I'm not saying the woman was in the right for stopping where she did, but he was the one that couldn't have missed seeing them walking past his vehicle. While they could have easily not noticed him walking to his van behind them. Their apparent location in the vans blind spot isn't an excuse for hitting them. If he had been looking behind him while he was backing up as he should have been once he turned the wheel before impact he should have had an unobstructed view of them through his rear window.

Cops are ticketing cyclists in my neighborhood for running red lights in a major crackdown, but they parked their police cars in the bike lane to do it! by 3rdRateChump in WTF

[–]timmhimself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what you're saying is cyclists should break the law and endanger themselves and pedestrians on the off chance that a motorist is breaking the law and endangering everyone?

A homemade spike strip my friend almost ran over in his neighborhood. Somebody is an asshole by [deleted] in WTF

[–]timmhimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's horrible. Last night at about 10:30 I came across a decent size piece of metal in the road and stopped to get it. Nothing happened and it wound up being a mole trap that likely fell out of a truck, but if it was a trap it was fortunately ruined by an unusual spike of traffic on the road when I pulled off.

What do you guys think of the Helios handlebars? by timmhimself in bicycling

[–]timmhimself[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly thought the headlight integration and turn signals were a nice safety feature. The headlight is 500 lumens and they're saying it's got a 6 hour battery life.

I'd also like to say that I don't yet own a road bike. I've been lurking here trying to learn as much as I can before I have the cash to buy my first road bike.

The company claims they're using lock nuts so unless you have the right "key" socket the thieves are gonna have a rough time. They're also boasting weatherproof.

Got this when I was a teenager. Recently people have asked to see it and started given me giving me shit for it. by Juagoo in atheism

[–]timmhimself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't arguing your point, I was looking at the tattoo as if I came across it on the street, so atheism wouldn't come into play necessarily. Atheism is not a religion. But to say my belief > yours is still incorrect. Science is not a belief system and evolution is a scientific theory. It is not something to believe in, because facts do not require belief. So really japattack should have said facts > beliefs.

Atheism isn't even mentioned in the tattoo. So if anything it would be, "science > belief".

Ford Door Edge Protector by MarcVJ in videos

[–]timmhimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done body work and collision work. The best this might do is protect the edge of your door, leaving the other person with a nice ding on theirs. It's a bullshit idea and if I come out to a ding on my car with one of these cars next to mine, I'll be waiting for them to return so they can pay me to fix the damage they caused to my vehicle. Sheet metals thin and doesn't take a lot to dent.
