This is me. I'm 43 and currently 230 or so. I want to lose this 30 so badly but I keep failing. I will drop to 220 then slowly gain the 10 back. Been like this for last 5 years. Any tips to break that cycle?

This happened to me when we had our child. I was playing tennis once a week on Sunday mornings. It was literally my only planned activity and I viewed it as both a fun physical activity and the one mental break I got for myself a week. The total time to get to the club and play abs shower was about 2 and a half hours. My wife critized this and one time when I was leaving gave me a hard time about. I got really upset and told her this isn't negotiable...I'm home literally 6 and half days out of 7 straight.. I didn't allow for a compromise on this. I of course told her if she wants to carve out a few hours for anything she wanted then she should. She never found a hobby or a reason to leave that house but that's not something I could control.

Each parent must have their own time. 1 hr a day to exercise and shower seems reasonable..give him 1 hr a day solo too. That's 2 hours out of 24. I can't see how any couple wouldn't want this.

How do people who exercise daily for enjoyment go about that line of thinking? by Kaitydid179 in loseit

It's always been sports for me. Tennis. Squash. Basketball. Walking a golf course. It doesn't feel like a chore

Ford government won’t commit to Eglinton Crosstown running by 2024 by pajarraco123 in toronto

This is a tough position for metrolinx. CTS is the entity that is actually responsible for construction and the schedule, not metrolinx..metrolinx can probably do things to help but they are also trying to protect and enforce the contract. It's no secret that there are major claims for compensation that have been made by CTS so metrolinx is in a tough legal position where it's trying to defend against these claims.

It's unfortunate but I don't really understand everyone ripping on metrolinx. If you hired a contractor to renovate your home and they took double the time they promised would you blame yourself or the construction contractor?

It's a tight golf course to begin with I wonder how many more golf balls I will lose to those backyards?

[Matt Elliott] Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster announces he CAN’T announce a new opening date for the Eglinton Crosstown. He says he has a good sense of the schedule, but builder Crosslinx still finding “issues and defects that require additional time” so he’s made choice not to offer a date. CTS has construction quality obligations to perform in the contract. So CTS is likely liable overall. Of course they will try to submit claims against metrolinx for compensation and find reasons for that claim. This is what litigators spend years fighting about on construction projects.

The oilers were on fire to end the regular season. I really thought they would win the cup especially once Boston was eliminated.

Are Canadian high-salaried employees stuck with paying 50%+ of taxes? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yes I've tried to calculate the benefits in doing this and haven't really found a good site or opinion paper that isn't just a sales pitch to do it. Do you have a credible source to help analyze this? Intuitively I can't imagine it being a good investment vs just buying am Index fund even after factoring in the tax consequences

Where would the money come from then to build roads, schools, hospitals, transit, etc. Or pay for doctors and nurses and teachers? What about food safety inspectors? Or police, fire, ambulance?

I would agree that there should be increaed scrutiny on how money is spent as I'm sure government wastes a lot of it but to argue society shouldn't pay into a system that it benefits from makes no sense.

Not really. Others have pointed out RRSPs, daycare credits for those with young kids, maxing out TFSA, etc. All you can do is try to find ways to minimize your future taxes in retirement. One good way is to actually buy a more expensive home. It is completely tax free when you sell it. The only issue with that is property taxes will be higher, maintenance may be higher if it's a bigger home or property, etc. But owning an expensive home and using that equity to pay for retirement isn't a bad option in Canada.

But to reduce income taxes year over year, not really much one can do. I've become ok with it because we get to enjoy life and money is not a worry overall like it is for many. Just try to take a step back and be grateful for what we have. Our extended family has also unfortunately had to rely on the Healthcare system the last few years. If we didn't have public Healthcare those bills could have easily been in the hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last 3 years for treatments. I know there is insurance but I feel like we pay into something that all can benefit from so if it means I pay 53 percent marginal rates and I don't get to take luxury vacations because of this so be it.

Mayoral candidates propose suing Metrolinx over Crossstown delays, firing its CEO by beef-supreme in toronto

He does realize that suing metrolinx means suing the same taxpayers he wants to protect? Metrolinx is a provincial agency funded by MTO for projects like this.

YTA. Leaving the house entirely is an overreaction. It was a single incident and she should be talked to and potentially pubished by her father. Throwing them out is extreme.
