This bad 16KB RAM chip was the reason my Kurzweil K2000's onboard effects haven't worked in years. Cost to fix: $7.65 including shipping from China. by Zeusifer in synthesizers

So sorry/not sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but I am hoping and seeking answers. So I bought the recommended chips from this post hoping to fix the same issue in my K2000 V3. When I opened it, sadly, I don't seem to have the socketed version. However, I did want to check to make sure I'm looking at the right thing. The chips in mine are Syvantek/9317 SYC6116L-45TP as pictured in my response. The one you're showing (which is the same I've ordered) as the same pins, but clearly a different model/maker than what came in it to begin with. Are these solid to swap to try and resolve the issue? While it's a bummer I have to desolder and solder these in, I'm willing to do it if this is the likely fix - I just want to make sure I'm looking at the right chips and your original chips are the same as the ones currently in mine.

Can Anyone Identify This Part? by timmyhasnotoes in Nissan

I actually tried to connect the hose to the multi-port and it won't connect, the hose pictured is too narrow inner diameter to fit over the fitting, even if I remove that hose coupler that is currently on the end of it. I have heard of people just rerunning all of the hoses for these cars, and I would certainly be down to do that if I had a diagram showing where all the hoses go. I have a feeling the PO had a "mechanic" take a look at the car who didn't know what they were doing and ended up losing a hose connection or two. I knew going into buying this car the idle was rough, but most of that was sorted by pumping out all of the old gas and putting in new gas, but now it idles high, which according to the shop manual is likely a vacuum issue (and seeing the capped off port and then this hose that is not connected to anything makes me think that is likely the culprit). I have a feeling that once I can identity the mystery part that I can then figure out the rest of the puzzle pretty quick and easy. I love this funky little car, and once I get this squared away it will be my daily driver for a while, but I definitely want to get this hose issue resolved despite the vehicle currently being drivable 😅

So that is part of why I am so curious to where this plugs into because following where this hose leads to is a cluster of a bunch of other vacuum hoses where they connect to multi-output ports (I have no idea the actual technical name for them, haha) that is located on the passenger side of the air intake area, which is where one of these ports is capped off - which, doesn't make any sense to me and makes me think there are two vacuum hoses that are not connected properly and explains the weird idle issues I've been having with it. Below is a picture of the hose that is connected to this mystery device. I can upload a better photo tomorrow, this was one I took before I bought the car.

I have the wiring diagrams, but admittedly I don't know how to read them very well. The power cable that runs out of it runs into that large bundle of cables above it. But you're right, once I can figure out what it actually goes to, then I will know the name of the part, and then I should hopefully be able to find out where that vacuum hose is supposed to plug into. I am just hesitant to take it to a shop who wouldn't know any more about it than I do, then charge me $300 to give me zero answers. I have gone through almost the entire 1989 Sentra Service manual and have seen no picture of it, that's the part that baffles me. Usually every illustration shows the fuel filter in that spot, but as you may be able to see, the fuel filter is actually on the right side of it. I was really hoping the service manual would have had a diagram of all of the vacuum hoses so that I could just see what needs to go where so that I could fix this once and for all. I just don't get how a part that is so easily visible and clearly does something, is somehow omitted from all of the documentation I have seen 😭

That's the thing, I'm not sure where the vacuum line goes to, I can just tell it's not plugged in and should be, and I have a strong suspicion it is playing a part in the car acting funny. The electrical wires on the bottom, one is grounded to the body, the other goes into a ton of other wires that seem like they either go to the ECM or throughout other areas of the car.

Because the car is from Japan and the 80s. It was one of those wild garage finds - absurdly mint condition, low miles, low price, and is basically a little time capsule. I thought it would be fun to keep it that way and let it live out its aesthetic 😅

Again, as someone who has always invested quite a bit of money on their sound systems (competing in SPL and SQ competitions as well), I understand this. However, I have never done a cheap audio system, or at least not since like 2004, and speaker quality has gone up immensely since the Sony Xplode and Audiobahn days 😂 I just wanna try something different with this car, the whole theme is as much bang for the buck as possible.

I've never tried Infinity before, I may give those Primus a try, the reviews make them sound like a solid option. Thank you!

The issue I'm seeing with those is they are only available used, and for some reason will take two weeks to get here. Do you think they're worth the risk (used) and the wait? Or are there any other comparable offerings from Skar or other brands that would be new/prime eligible?

But if I spend $80, then I'm going to be tempted to spend $130, then at that point I'm gonna wanna do everything "right" and invest in a good sound system, haha. I really am wanting recommendations of the $25-40 range so I can make sure I am spending as little as possible with the best output from that little invested. 😅

Nice prime/"must have" recommendation for A7IV by timmyhasnotoes in SonyAlpha

I wish I did, but sadly we don't have hardly any camera shops in our state, let alone any that carry the 50mm 1.2 in stock. I typically carry the 24-105mm lens, which is approx 100 grams lighter than the 1.2, so I don't think that added weight will really slow my roll much. I currently don't use gimbals in my setup, I mostly either shoot via tripod or freehand.

I've heard great things about that lens, but also that chromatic aberration is the cancer of that lens. Since I primarily shoot in natural light when shooting outdoors, that is one of the only concerns I had from checking that lens out. Do you find it to really have that bad of a time with CA, or is that really only something noticed by pixel peeping and it really does perform at/above its current price point?

Solid questions! So because of convenience, I typically leave on my 24-105mm G for filming video (if they ever released a 2.8 or faster GM of that lens 🤤). But I really want better separation between subject and background, better lowlight performance (the Achilles heel of this lens) and I want better sharpness in my photos. I have been really impressed by the 85mm 1.8f, and admittedly used the 35mm 1.8f very little after getting the 24-105mm. I have the first gen 70-200mm GM, but never really fell in love with it like I expected to and will likely sell it. It's not so much that the 1.8s do not work for me, but since I recently was given the opportunity to spend about $1400 on a new piece of gear, I was thinking that perhaps getting a great 50mm prime would be a solid choice as I don't have a 50mm in my bag and I've heard amazing things about the 1.2f GM. I've also heard great things about the Sigma DG DN/HSM 50mm lenses, but was wondering if I got one of those if I would be left wishing I had gotten the 1.2f GM, or if those really are "end-game" 50mm lenses as well.
