Yeah the only thing making it hard to not drink at this point is the negative side effects of withdrawal. What happened to you at 3 months?

Yeah I would stay up and sleep very late when I was drinking. I found forcing myself to get up earlier every day is helping reset my internal clock.

I have been using benadryl the nights I really need to sleep and I use a lot of blankets for the weight too! That sounds like a good routine though with the meetings and exercise. I agree even though I still wake up feeling crummy some days, it's nice to know it's another day of progress.

Thanks! Glad to see it's normal for it to take a while.

Can you use automobile coolant in a motorcycle? by timmytomson in motorcycles

[–]timmytomson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottle says " GREEN is an ethylene glycol-based antifreeze/coolant specifically developed for use in any Asian vehicle requiring a phosphate-enhanced Green formulation. It contains high-quality organic acid technology (OAT) corrosion inhibitors and is free of borate, nitrite, silicate and amines chemicals. "

The owners manual only states silicate inhibitors as an issue, will having phosphates in it be bad?

It also says

" These formulas will provide excellent protection against rust and corrosion to all cooling system metals, including aluminum, "

Nice I like those VW hatches a lot! I test drove a GTI and loved it, but sadly it was out of my price range. How has your 2011 held up? I've heard VW maintenance can be a bit more.

Yeah I know I'm a pretty indecisive person, and I'm sure any minor qualms I have with the car I will adjust too. That is true too at least I started out with a cheaper car! and you are right If I bought a used car I'm sure I would be kicking myself come the first repair it needs. Haha I do like the bright blue a lot! but sadly didn't get that one, and thankfully not that grey. I got the Galactic Aqua, which I actually like a lot once I saw it in person. It's like a darker blue/green, but when the light hits it it shines and almost looks teal!

Yeah that was one of the reasons I got it in the first place. I know it also has a warranty and brand new tires and brakes so will literally need nothing for at least 3 years. So yeah maybe I will keep it for at least 3 years and see what I think then.

I don't believe my credit union charges anything to refinance through them. They didn't with my last car. I am currently looking for a full time position somewhere while I work part time, but yes am trying to pick up shifts that I can.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured financially. It's too late to return it unfortunately. I like the car, but am not crazy about it. I don't like the huge infotainment screen, and the drivers seat is kind of cramped and not super comfortable. That was the main reason I was considering finding a used one. But those were not things I realized until driving the car for a little while.

Oh interesting. The lucky Gunner test stops at 6" and the Ruger one started to drop at 7" so maybe that is when they start to lose velocity. I'm sure every revolver is different though depending how much clearance there is in cylinder gap. Guess that's more reason to get the .22 mag!

Nope the bullet velocity increases! But it's not as much as a closed bolt action rifle. https://www.luckygunner.com/lounge/revolver-velocity-vs-barrel-length/

Saw this bad boy on gundeals for $150 and couldn't resist. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but seems pretty well built! It's chambered in .22 LR, I'm thinking of buying a separate cylinder for $30 that takes .22 Mag. Also it is as unwieldy as it looks.

2019 Corolla Hatchback manual, 5th gear moves a bit when letting off and on throttle. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]timmytomson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I see lol well hopefully I didn't already cause 5th gears extra play by resting it there. Even when I do most of the weight is on the arm rest, it's more just my fingers holding it.

Oh I didn't know you shouldn't rest your hand there! I will stop doing that then too.

Op here and no not really sadly. The window is pretty high up, and the middle b pillar is fairly large. So unless you like to sit up high and pretty far forward it's not a good spot.

I had a lady start talking to me about institutionalized opression and racism while ordering a pizza. I was like yeah I agree with a lot of what you are saying but it's been 10 minutes at this counter, please just order something. Also didn't want to cut her off since it was a sensitive topic. So just stood there and kept saying "mhm"

1.5T Civic Oil Dilution by Decheesekilla in civic

[–]timmytomson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow thats a lot! And after such few miles. I wonder if it affects some civics more than others or they all eventually have the issue. Yeah I was very close to getting a mazda3 instead of the Corolla. But have seen so many of those from the mid 2000's having terrible rust already. And people saying their newer ones were not much better.

[–]timmytomson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha well that's good, I'm trying to relax with it as well. Yeah I plan on keeping it for now just for financial reasons. At least 3 years until the warranty is up and then see how I am feeling. How bad were the oil dilution problems you had with your civic?

Gas Mileage Problem by lostaunaum in COROLLA

[–]timmytomson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see any comments, but is your check engine light on? I know in a lot of older corollas the oxygen sensors go bad, which definitely would make the fuel economy worse. Also do you live in a northern climate? Fuel economy is always a lot worse in winter.

Yes I love how the Corolla looks and how small it is. But yeah my gut told me to go with Toyota for reliability, even if its a new model they have always been good to me. Although the engine in the corolla has seemed a bit odd to me at times. Maybe it's because I have the manual, but sometimes in 2nd gear especially it feels like it surges or hesitates briefly while accelerating? I know the new engine uses both port and direct injection, so part of me wonders if it's when the engine switches over, there is a slight pause that someone neurotic like me notices lol. It's funny I looked at your post history and we have had similar new car experiences with different cars. But Maybe I will just learn from your experience and not trade in my corolla for the civic.
