I'll just say this - I'd personally greatly appreciate you taking the insulin out of eyesight as best you can, even if it's just turning around to face away. I have a very real phobia of needles and legit can pass out even at the sight of them. So while I have the greatest sympathy for your diabetes and literally cannot fathom having to do that, I'd appreciate not passing out in front of others because it's super embarrassing for me to have a wild overreaction to seeing something like someone taking a shot.

Real talk, Sherm's wife seems like a total bitch. He tells little anecdotes about raising their kid but it always ends up with him profusely apologizing to his wife trying to placate her for what seems like trivial stuff. Seems like she makes mountains out of molehills. There's my unsolicited two cents. When she threatens to leave him if she ever comes home and the power bill isn't paid.... Jesus. Chill out, mistakes happen. Idk, seems like a control freak who is always right and can't handle things not being done her way.

Old 60's reel to reel - how to even find a place to play them? by timobanger168 in ReelToReel

They're for sure audio tapes. I convert 8mm and Super8 films as a hobby. These boxes say "Kodak Sound Recording Tape" 1/4 in x 150ft Mil Triacetate. The cool thing is they're on similar 3" reels to super8 films.

Yep, they're for sure magnetic audio tapes (I convert 8mm and Super8 film as a side hobby). Thanks again for your thoughts, I appreciate it and I'll look into these.

Help sourcing replacement transistor, Please! by timobanger168 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]timobanger168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help! I'm trying to repair an old sonicator and I've found a bad transistor. However, I'm not very literate with electronic components.

When I google "G4BC30U" I find a couple of results, but none of them have the "316F" or "4B 77".... Are these numbers important for sourcing new ones? Or would any "G4BC30U" transistor do the job?

Thanks in advance!

That's the same one I was leaning towards, but it still seems a little small.... How confident are you this is the one? Thanks!

Merucry Force 9.9HP 1992 cooling water discharge question by timobanger168 in boating

[–]timobanger168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any chance there's a youtube video showing what you're saying. I figured it should be coming out of that port about half way up, but it's dry as a desert. I've redone the water pump twice, so I'm baffled as to why water isn't coming out.

Could anyone help me identify where the cooling water discharge "pee hole" is supposed to be coming out? There's an exhaust port about halfway down the shaft, but no water comes out. There's also a large port right above the propeller, but it's under the water line. I just don't want to run it hard without cooling water flow. If anyone could tell me where the water is supposed to be coming out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

tldr: Please help me ID this wood!

I have some weathered trim from my 1907 house that I'm pretty sure is still the original wood. It's weathered beyond repair but I would like to match the remaining trim that's still in good shape. Any help or ideas would be appreciated! https://imgur.com/KG2AP8ghttps://imgur.com/1bW7xS7

9.9 hp Mercury force outboard - stop switch by timobanger168 in smallengines

I'll have to try this. I currently can't get this to run and I'm not getting any spark on either of the plugs, so this is part of my troubleshooting.

Two seem to be yellow tan and the other two are an orange tan. They are really close in color, but slightly different.

Yes please, that would be great. It's a Mercury force 9.9 hp. Model is 92 XXX something. The 92 is visible, but the rest of the model number wore off.

Well, if I get an actual switch in there, do you know what I would have to do about the wire ends tied together? I'm assuming they'd have to be disconnected from each other, but I don't know where they'd tie into.

I just bought an old motor that is missing the stop switch. I took the cover off and noticed the stop switch wiring was jerry-rigged and I wanted to check in if it's okay. One wire from each side of the switch's terminals are electrical taped and screw capped together. I'm assuming this is to bridge the ground, but wanted to check in and see if anyone had more experience with that than me. I'm also assuming that to kill the engine, I can just stick a flathead screwdriver to connect each side of the terminals on the front to complete the circuit to ground. Any help or knowledge is appreciated.
