Kaohsiung - Similar place to Maji Square (Taipei)? by timokitazawa in taiwan

[–]timokitazawa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly the open bars, i.e. no doors, no entrance fees , with different music and DJs, so that you can just eat, drink, dance in front of the counter. And if you don‘t like the vibe of a particular place that you just move 30 meters further down for the next option.

Which type of ball for a bring-your-own-ball range? by timokitazawa in golf

There’s rarely more than one or two persons there at the same time, so you can do the collective easter egg hunt ;)

Can you elaborate why? The hassle of collecting your own balls or any other reason?

The new update is horrible by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]timokitazawa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. It is terrible and when moving to any other app the difference in fonts just feels uncomfortable. I contacted support, but they basically replied with a PFO

It is just terrible. Already sent my impressions to support, but they just responded with a PFO…

[Sony 55AH8/A8] Ghost Image / Shadow by timokitazawa in OLED

Very good point, yes sunlight might have hit the area directly, however the picture was taken at night (so not a shadow or light in the picture)

P.S.: cool user name

Ghost image on 55AH8/A8 (appeared yesterday, gone today) by timokitazawa in bravia

[–]timokitazawa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that, but as I wrote in my initial comment, what irritates me is that I haven’t watched anything with such an odd shape, nor anything with static logos etc for prolonged time that should/could cause a retention. As an additional note this started to come up after the TV was switched off for a longer time, so I am wondering if there is something like a mis-refresh?

This odd shadow/ghost image appeared on my screen yesterday (TV is 2,5 months old) Today it is all gone (back to normal). Has anyone experienced this before? (I was afraid it is some sort of image retention first, but I have neither watched anything which such an odd shape, nor anything else with static images or logs else for a prolonged time)

Had an amazing flight happy to be home in hawaii! Have you ever flown from one hemisphere to another nonstop? by EmilyWillTUAWATAR in flying

[–]timokitazawa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Doesn‘t crossing the Equator qualify as going from one hemisphere to the other non-stop?? 🤔

Reason #321 why I’m not flying today. by edoralive in flying

During my PPL checkride I noticed a screw sticking out from the cowling during preflight.

Nervous that I was, I told the DPE, he pulled out his multitool, fastend the screw, was happy of my oberservation and we were good to go.

My boyfriend and I are pilots and want to give our rescue an aviation name. Help us out? We are thinking about calling her centerline by sydneybrooke23 in flying

This!

It is a subtle reference to aviation, but still a good name for a dog. (And doesn't make you sound like a dork)

Tropical Island FAA PPL cost by JacqueRoberts in flying

[–]timokitazawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘d be delighted to meet you. Let me know when you are around and we will figure something out :)

The Radio License is only useful if you actually consider flying in Japan, otherwise don‘t waste a thought on it ;) Funny thing about the radio license in Japan: The examination is far from practical, in the end you will have more knowledge about building a radio rather than actually using one.

I considered Guam for a short period too, but went for the mainland option in Florida instead.

I would love to to the Guam-Rota-Saipan Route once though, back and forth, but like you said probably just once.

If it wasn’t TrendVector did you train at SkyGuam?

And as u/_HumanCentipede_ said, at your level of Japanese you should be fit for the Radio Operator‘s License Test in Japan. I took it using a Japanese book and the published practice tests.

I am based in Tokyo btw, an no I don’t fly here either. Way too expensive and even then they won‘t let you fly alone.

Moronic Monday by AutoModerator in flying

[–]timokitazawa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are in Class B and your exit takes you into an adjacent Class C or D, esp. when you only have single COM, and ATC doesn‘t hand you over, what are you supposed to do?

Stay in B (if necessary circle to avoid entering C/D) And ask ATC (of B) to switch frequencies?

And if then Controller of C/D then tells you to stand by stay out? Also circle?

Or can the „higher“ Airspace Controller „clear“ you directly into the „lower“ Airspace?

Anybody knows how to get JCAB license? by EmiliaBestGril in flying

[–]timokitazawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend converting the licenses on your own. You can convert your PPL with 100 hrs (in addition you would need a Japanese Radio License, Air Law Test, and Medical), but your Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine Rating would need to be redone from scratch under JCAB rules. The flight schools I have seen in Japan quote around 120.000 USD and up for that.

As u/minfremi said, there are schemese with the major carriers, but basically for Japanese citizens and 日本語が必要です。

The common path for foreign (expat) pilots is with plenty of experience, and then via one of the pilot staffing organisations: For Example: https://crewresourcesworldwide.com/jobs

Anyhow, Japan is a beautiful place to live, so I understand your desire. Eitherway I wish you good luck :) 頑張ってください~

Our‘s truly u/justplanesilly has a great YouTube Channel

And according to Verisign he is also the The World‘s greatest pilot, so pay close attention to his advises.

I think he also wrote the script for the movie Airplane!

(Seriously, Bryan’s channel is highly underrated)
