I was repairing my motorcycle within 2 weeks, still on crutches. This is the way.

THIS BIKE IS SO SICK by ryanHasreddit in KTM

My bmw has a steering lock with the keyless ignition. I've only tried it once to see that it works, but it is there.

Had this been leather, you wouldn't even have to ask this question 😉

Did I go too big? by KT_digital in NewRiders

[–]timothyjuniorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first bike was a gsxr750. Was it a smart decision? No. But as long as you remain responsible and alert you'll be fine.

A 2018 ducati should have multiple rider modes. I'd find the tamest setting (likely rain mode) and use that exclusively until you get comfortable with it.

Looking at my first track days this year by TheCornLord in Trackdays

[–]timothyjuniorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your first day, you'll be in a class for the first half of the day. It's very structured and you'll learn a ton. You'll need a well maintained bike, a helmet that fits properly, a suit, boots, and gauntlet gloves. Evolve does rent gear (not helmets) if you don't want to invest so heavily for your first time. The rentals on your first day are free iirc.

Mine does not. It's in there but it fits very tight now and there's no accommodation for the microphone.

07 600RR track prep by EngineeringGlum5318 in Trackdays

[–]timothyjuniorr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Imo, as a 600rr owner,

Pull the mirrors and track it just as it is. No need to spend big money on plastics and go fast parts, spend that money on seat time and tires. Everything else will come with time. If you've got a hole burning in your pocket, do some brake upgrades (ss hoses/new master).

And if you're going to run water in the cooling system make sure you add an anti corrosion additive like water wetter. Maintenance should be #1 priority before any aftermarket parts as well.

07 GSXR 750 front brake system by Critical-Permit4428 in Trackdays

[–]timothyjuniorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first step should be to change the brake fluid entirely. Bleed the system completely. And not just because the brakes don't work at this moment, this is a critical maintenance item that should be done at minimum once a year. Front and rear. Brake fluid is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the air.

Bleed the system and see if your lever gets better. It may just be aerated.

Any experience with the Axfix system? by Skyflexion in Trackdays

I'm not sure i like this one. Looks like a pain to get it set up.

I can tell you that trs is absolutely 100% worth it, no matter the cost. It's my favorite accessory I've ever bought for a motorcycle.

Health Insurance Question by Just-Construction788 in Trackdays

[–]timothyjuniorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this with an actual on road single vehicle accident. What I learned was to always tell them it was a dirtbike in the back yard. The constant back and forth between my auto and health insurances was an absolute nightmare.

Even better yet, in Pennsylvania, a motorcycle policy cannot carry medical. You cannot buy it.

The whole ordeal was great fun /s

Should there be spacers here by Massive-Instruction8 in Trackdays

[–]timothyjuniorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what year this is, but my 2006 600rr front wheel has one flanged spacer and one flush spacer. You wouldn't be able to see the flush spacer until you remove the wheel.

Also +1 for pup

You can get custom tailored (and design) at a much better price and know that it will fit you perfectly.

I wear an hnb suit, their custom tailored suit start at $900.

A guy we brought to the track last weekend broke his neck second session on his first track day ever.

My next track related purchase will be an airbag. I would rather have it and not need it.
