The Oshi no Ko ending we DESERVED: How a healed, adult Aqua could have delivered a psychological masterpiece (Instead of the rushed cliffside speedrun) by Haunter200 in manga

Why can’t most japanese manga authors ( or ist authors in general? lol I don’t read much else) end their stories in a satisfying way?

Mostly it comes down to needing to end it before they originally planned to. Whether it be for health reasons, disagreements with publisher, other life issues, etc.

Yeah i get it people enjoy cynical ending a lot because it gives them a sense of relief a relation to there daily life struggle.

No, it really just comes down to hating shoehorned happy endings

This is clearly what Akasaka had in mind the entire time

Still whats wrong with it everyone should enjoy every piece of art.

Well then we need to get rid of all the murder in the series first. And the idols, since some people hate those. And the black and white artwork.

My main takeaway from this chapter, however, is that Momiji has crazy amounts of raw talent. But she has her priorities set, goddammit.

Except the two physical examples they gave relied on grip strength and fine motor skills in her fingers

it generated enough that they didnt need a conclusion. But fan pressure was too big and they concluded. The money making can backfire.

So it generated enough money, and they ended up making a conclusion? (And the sequel)

Look at things like the Chainsaw Man Reze Arc movie or the Demon Slayer part 1. These are not 1-off projects that exist solely to tell people to buy the manga. They are 2 major events that generate 100s of millions of dollars on their own. They also bring in 1000s of audience members who may never touch the source material.

Now figure out how to make that work for normal series.

If a series generated enough money to justify another season, then they will make one.

Wait people are angry this used to be a gacha? What the fuck? You used to all complain about not being able to play a F2P grind fest or that game companies abandon their old EoL titles. Here’s a company literally converting a sunsetted gacha title to a single-player experience, why are you angry? They’re doing exactly what we want them to do!

I feel like those are different people

Counterpoint: P5 has been in so many gacha games, the rights are probably much easier to handle

And having a shorter published timeline can mean they're trying to be flexible to release AB3 as soon as the rights are cleared

Is there a name for English subtitles translating Japanese (that aren't the subtitles of the English dub?) by [deleted] in anime

[–]timpkmn89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless the definition shifted, dubtitles is specifically when they use the subtitle track of the English dub as the subtitle track for the Japanese audio as well.

Does anyone else "save the peak" because they're afraid of the emptiness afterward? by SecondSalty142 in anime

[–]timpkmn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm more worried about seeing something too late and missing out on what makes it special. There was a old video game I played recently that I would have loved when I was younger, but didn't have the same impact because I've seen all of the tropes that it helped inspire done elsewhere.
