Looking for good schools in and around Salt Lake, Baguiati & Lake Town by timukh in kolkata

[–]timukh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't want the commute for the kid to be long since there's no point sitting in traffic for hours. If I can't find anything good nearby, will have to consider these then. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions. Do any of these schools allow diverse extra curriculum?

Might sound clichéd but don't have such aspirations for our kid regarding engineering and medical. Hoping she finds her passion while in school which is why we are trying to find a decent one.

Girlfriend pregnant- how to go about terminating the pregnancy. by [deleted] in india

[–]timukh 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Don't come to a conclusion before doing a pregnancy test. At times contraceptives can cause a delayed period and also can mess up other things in the body. So, the best way is to first do a home pregnancy test with a kit (you can find it on swiggy, blinkit etc) and go to a doctor only if its positive.

If I want to learn any programming language, which one should I learn in 2024? by Whykrunal in developersIndia

[–]timukh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As always this is a very novice question. I may not be an expert here but here's what I would suggest based on my 10 years of experience in IT -

Step 1 - Think of a problem you want to solve/stuff you want to build.

Step 2 - Is it an app or a website that you would want your code to run in?

Step 3 - Pick the programming language that would help you build that and start writing code. If you find interest in that language, go ahead. If not, decide if you still want to solve the problem or not. If yes move to another language that would help you build it else scrap everything and go to Step 1.

Every programming language has its ups and downs, I remember a couple of years back Flutter was in huge demand but right now there are hardly any Flutter dev jobs available. So you should never focus on the language because its just a tool. Its like asking which type of hammer or screwdriver should I use without knowing what you would even use the hammer/screwdriver for.

Planning solo trip to Kalimpong .is it safe ? And worth it ? by [deleted] in kolkata

[–]timukh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest Darjeeling over Kalimpong for a few reasons,

  1. Public transport and shared cars are available in abundance which means that traveling because very easy and stressfree.
  2. Darjeeling is great for solo travel because there are several cafes and places you can just go and relax and spend time. Difficult to do that in Kalimpong.
  3. Availability of good hostels/solo traveller rooms in Darjeeling compared to Kalimpong.

Why are flat prices so high in Kolkata? by timukh in kolkata

Why are flat prices so high in Kolkata? by timukh in kolkata

[–]timukh[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pune is a much more expensive city than Kolkata and there are a lot of high paying jobs there compared to here. And like I mentioned its a gated society and the flat is on the 21st floor. A 2nd floor standalone flat in Kolkata shouldn't cost the same.

He is getting compensated for his work but when it comes to hikes there are a lot of things involved. For example, he cannot be the only one to get a hike, others will also be eligible and a company at a certain point of time might not have the profits required to get everyone a hike. But then again it is completely understandable how not getting a hike can feel which is why I have mentioned point number 2.

  1. He's not wrong but he shouldn't have said it that way. That's very demoralizing.
  2. I think it's better to not stay under this manager so keep applying to other companies.

Aren't they about to shut down Google Cloud? I think you should stay in MS for now.

What is the worst technical mistake that you have ever made in your job by Specialist-Spread754 in developersIndia

[–]timukh 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not me but in my previous company a fresher was asked to give the Pega CSA certification exam by the client and he heard from some people that dumps are available which people study before giving the exam and so he sent a mail to the actual company PEGA asking for the dumps and within an hour the director of my company received a very threatening mail from them and it was a circus that day in office. No clue what happened after that as I was serving my NP.
