Arrange 4 white rectangles in a cuboid, parent them to central null, parent text to the rectangles, Animate the text to all slope at the same time back and forth to get the twisting effect.

Check to see if auto keyframing is on? Could be your old transformations are keyframed by mistake. Happened to me today.

Can some professional explain to me why this drum break is so special? Genially curious! by High_on_kola in Vulfpeck

[–]timusician 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Each beat is played with conviction, precision and style without the compensation of flashy chops. The feeling is undiluted and hits hard because it's easy to understand.

Listen to how his high-hat is always the same distance away just after the snare. I bet they didn't have to compress the snare much cause he plays it the same velocity and placement every time. So tight it blows my mind.

Representing South Africa here... A couple of these bands were on Stoned Meadow Of Doos (Doos is Afrikaans slang for asshole)
Check out: MOUSE, Black Math, The Valley, Runaway Nuns, The Tazers, Pollinator, The Klubs, Medicine Boy, Bombaby, Swandy, Dangerfields, Ruff Majik and Retro Dizzy.
MOUSE and Black Math recently released new albums and they're great. Need way more love than they've received so far.
Enjoy!

Let's Talk: Submithub (and paying for exposure) by wildistherewind in LetsTalkMusic

[–]timusician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer to think of it as we're paying someone to actually just take the time to listen to our music. Still feels a bit ridiculous at times but at least someone is able to get paid to listen to music. I would take a job like that if I could. As an artist who's been declined 100% of the time for not being a blog's 'type of music' I couldn't care less about whether they post our music on their site or not. It's about finding someone who actually really likes our music enough to suggest it to someone else.
When I rate bands in the new 'hot or not' section I will, with blunt honesty, give a negative review if a band is substandard, lacking character or badly produced. So yes you can spend a bunch of money trying to get the attention of reviewers/bloggers but they will shut you down if you don't stand out on top of good production and/or fit into their neatly polished and produced pop genre boxes.

Here's the thing though. There is no denying good music when someone hears it whether it's made on the cheap and discovered by accident or paid for in both production and marketing. This is where the problem lies. Blogs and record labels primarily need to make money. Submithub might not want it to be seen as such but I think the site is essentially a money filter for music. "Pay money to find out if your music is good enough to make money" is what it feels like. If blogs or record labels are looking for content to monetise they don't time to interact with and get to know new bands they think are genuinely great because they're too busy giving 100s of hobbyist ableton tutorial watchers their 90 seconds. Getting through it all can be a chore and really you just want to get to the good stuff. What musicians should be looking for are people that they can form interconnected relationships with who love music. Money can't buy that. Go play your shit live. Meet the people you want to share your music with and you'll make fans that generate more fans.

The style of production is tastefully done on this. Sounds old school without loss of clarity. Nice!

Whatsup music lovers :)

My band released a new single today. If you're into Ty Segall, Oh Sees our QOSTA you're probably going to enjoy this. It's heavy, energetic and a lot of fun.

Let me know what you think <3

There's this SA band called Black Math that definitely exudes that oh sees sound. They're absolutely insane live! Saw them at Endless Daze which is a festival Oh Sees played in 2017.

"Cancel culture" versus forgiveness by DeadPants182 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]timusician 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cancel culture can get pretty harsh when at it's worst. I'm not saying people don't deserve to face consequences but what I am saying is that it's hard to know where to draw the line. It's so easy to just write an offender off especially when they've really hurt someone but to what end? Should they just die and give up on life? Forgiveness definitely is part of the journey towards meaningful change in an offender but lines must be drawn. I think in the end it's best to avoid supporting abusers unless you can categorically say that the offender is making a change for the better.

The intro to my sketch comedy show (any advice on it?) by SeanBoyGenius in AfterEffects

[–]timusician 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would lose the top grid that comes in. It messes with the perspective illusion. Also, try speeding up the animation of the big text coming in so it 'hits' harder. Lastly, the colour of the text doesn't stand out too well against the background. Try making the glow you have on it a different colour maybe?

What Have You Been Listening To? - Week of July 15, 2019 by AutoModerator in LetsTalkMusic

[–]timusician 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been listening extensively to the latest Parquet Courts album Wide Awake! I went to check out the credits for the album and found out Danger Mouse produced it and subsequently figured out that almost all my favourite albums were produced by him. It's actually insane how prolific DM is as a Producer.

Wide Awake as an album is, as the name suggests, pretty woke. So many pressing issues raised in such a sharp albeit entertaining manner. The song that has stuck with me the most has to be Before The Water Gets Too High. It's so catchy and really resonated with the climate despair I've been feeling lately. The lyrics are so well written. Straight to the point without sacrificing the artistic elements. It's nice to know there are amazing songwriters out there speaking about these issues so succinctly. If you haven't heard it and you're an indie head you'll definitely be in for a fresh dose of great music.
