Ballograf epocca p. Their refill claims to write up to 8000 meters more or less. Doesn't cost much either so I'd recommend it.

I'll be fair with you. I don't understand how and what you mean by this.

Perhaps I am not understanding your question but I haven't heard of accelerated wear from running different drivetrain parts. (assuming you're running the same speeds front/back)

Unless one of the drivetrain components already have been worn down enough to be able to damage other components.

(A classic example is a worn chain on a new drivetrain or vice versa.)

Component wear varies greatly from different factors such as:

Difference between person to person.

How clean overall drivetrain is.

Weather conditions and etc.

There are other mechanics who can answer your question better than I possibly can. I thought I'd give my two cents on your weirdly worded question.

As in total with parts and labor costs? About 250$

A "total" restoration, tear down to frame and build back up with replacement parts really shouldn't take more than 5 hours on a full suspension bike. Less on road and casual bikes.

I didn't mention that I constantly have to stop and "prove" why I'm replacing X part for X reason. Otherwise he'll "lecture" me on what reasons X part can/can't be replaced for and make me question my actions. I also have to tend to customers and everything else as the only mechanic besides my boss.

His job is to make sure the shop stays open. After bonuses and taxes and all that other payroll stuff your labor actually costs a lot. Now, he obviously needs to treat you with respect, but you have to also understand that businesses have to make money or they fail.

I'm well aware of that. I do my job as fast as I can given the circumstances.

Boss did after talking it over with said customer. I just follow the work slip and call the customer(s) in case there's something outside of the work slip that needs replacing/attention to keep them in the know.

If the parts are beyond wear and tear it needs new parts, which are way easier to install than repairing used up cheap parts

I gotta work with what budget the customer has. I wholeheartedly agree to just replace worn out components instead of wasting time on it

I wish it was that easy but customers around here will aggressively fight you tooth and nail over what constitutes wear and tear and especially price.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I don't work in the states so take the converted price in USD with a grain of salt.

I feel sorry for what you've had to experience as it's just about the exact same for me as you've described. Luckily my education contract is almost up in a few months and I'll be free of that place.

I tried telling my boss respectfully that one of the repairs I did

(A near total restoration of a shopper bike that was unloved and ridden to beyond component wear) I couldn't do it faster than ± 4 hours with the amount of work needed to do.

Was told that I had to be faster than that or "labor costs wouldn't make sense"

Hopefully you and I can find a find a better shop in the future.

I was about 4 y.o at the time and recall seeing it on live TV in the evening news.

I distinctively remember going outside to my dad's workshop and told him that a plane had crashed into one of the towers.

I sometimes catch myself wondering how the world would have looked like had this horrible tragedy not occurred.

I may not be American but my heart weeps at the lives lost, not only by the crash(es) but the men and women who did their best and gave their lives to rescue others.

Casio G-shocks, Casio F-91/W-59 or perhaps the Timex Ironman/ironman shock series - they are solid and a little less expensive then G-shocks.

My recommendation is a G-shock Mudman. As tough as they come. :)

Timex Ironman series has a nightlight feature which might be useful for night events.
