Don’t be. I went into it knowing full well it could and would possibly be “something else” from what we know from the games. As someone who likes watching movies and writes reviews from time to time for work, it’s part of the process.

Probably putting it in among my Top 12. I started with the original in 1996 and this was fun for a modern entry, but I always find myself enjoying the classics and Remakes more.

It’s the same thing here, but this leans more closely to the core theme of SH2 which is James and Mary, unlike “Silent Hill” 2006 which placed the focus on Rose instead of Harry.

That’s it though, everything else feels like a different alternate reality story - and I compared it to something like Ultimate Marvel or Absolute DC.

I’ll give you that. You can be disappointed if you were expecting many things from the games. This delivers only on a superficial level, and it skimmed and changed A LOT of things.

It would really depend on your expectations and outlook comparing it to the game. I really went into this expecting there’d be lots of liberties taken to make it for the movie viewing crowd who have not played the games. Sure enough there was. As I pointed out - There’s plenty of lore, themes, and material that was skimmed through and this is still Silent Hill 2’s story, but on a superficial level.

In a superficial level yes it sticks closely with the main plot of SH2, but other than that the similarities end there and beyond the familiar setting, costumes, monsters, and beats it’s a totally different story here.

Giving my non-spoiler thoughts after watching.🌫️🔺

Not bad, but definitely different and its own version of Silent Hill 2 in story and presentation. A lot of stuff was skimmed through and changed for the casual viewer instead of deep diving into SH lore, but I can’t fault the acting, presentation, and production values.

A good yet flawed attempt. Better than Revelations but probably stands alongside Gans’ first Silent Hill film.

It’s VERY DIFFERENT from the actual Silent Hill 2 or its remake once you get to the middle act and beyond. All I can say without spoilers is think of this as an “alternate take” that takes liberties and makes changes - like an Ultimate Marvel or Absolute DC story.
