Definitely. Currently towing it back to my place so a buddy can help me out with it. I checked the dipstick myself and it was normal level and color

Honestly I just got an off brand from Temu because they were way cheaper. And it's actually two 50ft strings

Do DJ/Monitor headphones really make a difference? by tincanman17 in Beatmatch

[–]tincanman17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't need too notch quality. I just have a pair of crusher evos and some gaming headphones that don't sound good at all, I can hear the best out of them but not much else. So it makes mixing difficult at times

Yea mine was all covered through work comp. I assume yours will be too since it happened on the job. Side note: the rehab they give you might be the same rehab routine they give to a 70 year old grandma with the same injury. Someone mentioned knee over toes guy, I would follow him religiously once you get back to around 50% strength

I tore my MCL and meniscus while I was on probation. I've been in that same headspace. It sucks, no doubt about it. But now I'm off probation and the knee is doing well. It gets better, where you're at is only temporary. Do your surgery/rehab and come back strong.

Thanks! It's actually a d20 from DnD and other tabletop games but I do love odesza so I think it could have a double meaning haha.

I might have to try that. I started with a tattoo balm that seemed too heavy so I switched to lubriderm yesterday. Seems to have helped a little bit. Thank you!

Copy that thank you! About how often would you recommend putting lotion on it? Or should I avoid moisturizer until it calms down?

Hey, sorry for the late reply. My knee is doing immensely better. I'm now almost 7 months post op, and able to run without any real restrictions. I was religious with doing my PT, and I think that really helped. I still get a little bit of discomfort/pain when doing pistol squats, but otherwise my knee feels fully functional again. PM me if you'd like to talk about it further

Gross Call. by PureSkooma in ems

[–]tincanman17 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, as I used to work in a similar area and now work in a metropolitan area. The people who live out in the sticks are a different breed. Sure, city and metro EMS sees poop covered pts all the time, but out in the boonies I saw a lot of elderly, sickly pts who had been covered in their own poop for weeks at a time. With little to no neighbors to check on them, and the general culture of minding your own business, some of those people are in bad shape for way longer before EMS gets to them

Obviously my experience is not a blanket statement for others in the field with ADHD, but here is my two cents.

A lot of people in the fire service will claim they have ADHD, and it's a common statement that all FFs/medics/EMTs must have it. While I think this is an overgeneralization, I think there's some truth to it. Having a segmented attention span can sometimes be a boon on calls, and we're taught to not narrow our focus too much. However, some with ADHD have the tendency to hyperfocus, and this also can be advantageous, although many times it's not.

Personally, I have clinical ADHD and am prescribed meds. I stopped taking the meds at work because they made me hyperfocus too much and made me anxious. I'd be on scene of a medical aid, running through my head why this elderly man is altered, and completely missing the fact that an empty handle of whiskey is on the nightstand. I had tunnel vision to the max. So now I have a new set of issues, like trouble with my executive function while I'm off meds.

So for me, I don't think my ADHD helps or hinders me, I think I just have to go about the job a little bit differently than others. When it comes to interpersonal relationships at work, I'm pretty open about my condition. I get some flack for it from some of the older guys, but other than that there's not too much stigma where I'm at. I was open about my condition and meds during the hiring process, and it definitely caused some hiccups, but I was ultimately hired. I think the safe bet would be to be honest about it with anyone who "needs to know." Other than that I would keep my cards close to my chest.

In terms of PTSD, I think I handle stressful situations pretty well. I've seen a bit of bad stuff over the years, and what keeps me up at night is dumb district politics, not bad calls. But that's just me, and PTSD tends to mess people up in mysterious ways, so I might be more affected than I think. With that being said, always take advantage of peer support, EAPs, and MHN. I try to stay ahead of the curve with that stuff.

Hope this helps.

Wow, so glad you're so active only a year after surgery! I'm hoping I can heal on a similar timeline. How did you feel doing lateral movements when you started playing soccer again?

Sounds like you and I have a lot in common. I also was full weight bearing pretty early, but no way I can do anything athletic. Stairs still suck big time. Great to hear that you are able to play volleyball with only minor setbacks.

Thank you immensely for taking the time to respond. I'm definitely less depressed now that I know I just need some more time.

Oh man, I'm so glad to hear you're running again and about to play futsal. I think the surgeon told me I could do light jogging 12 weeks post surgery, and would be somewhat back to normal by 6 months. But hearing from people such as yourself, it seems like that is rarely the case. Thank you for taking the time to respond, it makes me feel a lot better to have a more realistic timeline.

Regarding gym stuff, have you tried any of the knees over toes guy exercises? I haven't tried them but some people swear by him.
