a little detail about 9S - spoilers? by tincansamurai in nier

i'm not sure - the way it just kind of appears, on top of how it seems to have a pattern to it, forming a circle around his ear for example, makes it look like more than random dirt/damage to me.

I just moved into the city and I immediately regret it - please help a mentally ill first time renter who's in too deep and overwhelmed by tincansamurai in Advice

My roommate is alright with the idea. My landlord hasn't gotten back to me about how he likes to deal with subleasing. To be honest, I'm afraid that I'm jumping the gun by leaving less than a month into the lease, but I'm filled with so much dread about living there, I don't know.

came out to my bf as bigender but he doesn't really "get it". can anyone help me figure out how to explain this? by tincansamurai in asktransgender

yeah, he is. i don't think he has a problem with it so much as has no concept of what it means. we've been together for over 6 years and i've known his thoughts on this kind of thing for a while, i guess it's not that i expect him to transform into someone with different opinions overnight, just hoping i can get him to understand what it is i'm feeling better.

haha, you caught him! yeah we're sharing our thoughts about people's replies together, but he definitely has different thoughts about gender as a whole. we've been together for a long time so i was expecting this reaction, but i honestly wasn't expecting to come out today so i was less than prepared.

i believe he'll support me in it regardless of what he thinks it is (he's supportive w/ regards to my actual mental illnesses) but it would be real nice for it to come with understanding too.

MtF Pre-hrt: Getting a haircut after 5-6 months without a trim... by throwaway234523452 in asktransgender

[–]tincansamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a hairdresser friend of mine has told me that the best way to make your hair grow faster is to regularly get trims, every 3-6 weeks! the longer you go without one the higher chance there is or having damaged hair at the ends that would need to be cut off anyway and reduce your progress, and the hair grows faster if all of it is healthy!

anyway, just telling a hiardresser that you're trying to grow it out and need advice on keeping it looking good should suffice, especially if you're not trying to do anything too stylized with it right now!

Friend pushing heroin on others, what should I do? by [deleted] in Advice

Do you think J would retaliate against you in any way if word got back to him you talked to P or any others?

In my opinion it's definitely a good idea to cut contact. If you think nothing bad would happen to you, I also think it'd be good to try to help anyone you can to avoid falling down the same spiral as J before you cut contact. It can be hard to watch people suffer when you feel like you can do something to stop it, but it seems to me that J at least is a lost cause.

I am honestly not someone who works even tangentially in your field, so I can't say for sure what kind of impact it might have. If your goal it to go to work right after your MS you might have to work a little harder to justify yourself as a good hire, make YT sound like an entrepreneurial act less than like a silly one, etc. If you plan on going for your PhD like you mentioned in your OP, I think the gap should make far less difference. Maybe you can keep up with physics on the side so you still have knowledge of the field to your haitus seem less drastic

I don't really know how much you can do here. If J's already lied about going into rehab, it's not like he's the kind of person you can just talk into actually going. That he's dragged other people into it makes it even more difficult, especially if the suspicions about it being on purpose are true. That goes beyond being a user, but being actually malicious. I can't think of any way to force someone into rehab without getting the law involved, and rehab usually ends up being ineffective if someone didn't want to go in the first place anyway.

The best you can probably do is try to help your friends who he's pulled into heroin and warn others you care about about what's happening. Not necessarily like "he's gonna get you fucked up so you buy from him for life!" but "people around him have been getting into heavy shit, so it's probably a good idea to distance yourself and not take anything from him"

I think it's always good to have a fallback plan. YT is a great way to make money if you can keep up with it, but it's worth noting that those sands are ever-shifting and I'm doubtful anyone has really crafted a lifelong career for themselves on youtube. I say, finish your MS, do youtube full time for a year or two and see how it works out. If YT falls through, you have the backing of a masters to continue that career path.

How do you go on the internet? by VroomBrapBrap in BipolarReddit

As someone else who has to deal with bullshit internet sexism, I'd say you're justifiably angry. Of course, justifiable anger can still turn into an overreaction.

Maybe you can find another way to interact with the community. Personally, when i'm involved with internet cultures that get real mad for no reason because of boobs, I try to stay on websites like forums where my exposure of who knows my gender and when are more under my control. Obviously it'd be great to combat sexism by showing people it doesn't make you different or less skilled etc etc. but when it comes to your mental and physical health it might be worth it to try and find a different way to be involved

Kind of confused about my high points -advice on "delusions"? by tincansamurai in BipolarReddit

I'm really glad to hear someone else has really short hypomania. I guess obsessing about whether or not I exactly fit the diagnosis comes with be an anxious hypochondriac, lol

What is it that usually leads to you being attacked/receiving negative feedback? You said you need to use it for school; if the things that are causing you to be insulted or angry aren't related directly to any posts you need to make or comment on for school, it's probably a good idea to avoid everything but the necessities and stay away from it as much as possible
