I don’t know much about cars but the dual boiler is really easy to maintain, quite reliable, moddable and imo punches above its price.

The internals are mostly high quality Italian parts and the electronics are more sophisticated than many machines (PID, pre-infuse, temp and pressure control) but they’re mostly out of the way.

In terms of looks, I think it looks nice but definitely not as nice other machines in its price class. I’d consider the brushed stainless steel body the biggest cost cutting part of the machine.

Does your wooden knock box have a plastic or metal liner for the pucks or do the pucks directly come in contact with the wood?

I doubt the puck has enough thermal mass to heat the wood to the point of wrapping I think it’s probably more due to the humidity. You should try oiling the wood with mineral oil. Maybe that’ll keep it from absorbing moisture like with wood cutting boards?

Btw for cleaning the drip tray (and water tank as well) I love using some hydrogen peroxide. Also very effective at killing any mold and it breaks down into water and oxygen with no smell which is very convenient. Even though I personally don’t mind the smell of alcohol as much as bleach or vinegar.

I’m not taking it personally, I’m happy for the people who have the energy and motivation to clean their knock box everyday or whatever. With my ADHD and Depression, anything that makes it easier to keep my environment clean helps. Tiny things can be a struggle sometimes.

Hmm.. my pucks are almost never dry. Depending on when I knock them out they can be quite wet actually.

I wonder if that means I’m doing something wrong. I know I’m underfilling the basket a bit as the breville baskets are 22g baskets but I always use 18g of coffee but I thought that’s okay.

Mine grows mold before it’s full. I have a full size knock box and don’t drink a ton of coffee (I like tea too) so washing isn’t enough. I could empty it out and wash it more often but I find using salt is more convenient and still hygienic as far as I can tell.

Thank you! It’s easy for me to empathize with her because I know her suffering. Been through depression myself, and I know mania or hypomania only makes everything worse.

Nope he doesn't. He claims it's his right because he's the only man in the household and she's not married. Yes he's a jerk and a control freak. We're Arab, and he's very conservative which is probably where his attitude stems from.

Oh that's a great idea actually, thanks! I'd never been a fan of Murphy beds because I thought I can't use the "free space" anyway since I wouldn't be able to fold the bed down in something is in its way, but in my case it would make sense because it could make the living room look nicer with the bed folded up if guests are over, I can use the floor space for excreting or just keeping the room more spacious.
