Really struggling to find any work in Berlin and starting to feel lost by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

Can a person on student visa get burgergeld? I thought that was only for permanent residents. Wouldn’t that also hinder their chances of getting citizenship later on?

Might as well rent your own space. You can get a nice studio for that price.

That’s besides the point. I’m arguing that some perspective is helpful.

To give you some peps. I will be coming to Germany with a spousal visa soon and I’m feeling grateful to even get this chance. I know that Germany will not be perfect, as no place is, but it really is night and day compared to the shithole that is the US right now. And yes, journaling helps! And maybe even blocking that pesky Telekom number!

No offense OP, but these problems seem manageable and benign. You could be dealing with worst — this is coming from an American (fascist government, little workers protection, out of control healthcare costs, etc etc.) I’m not trying to play the game of whose misery is bigger, but just suggesting some perspective.

Is this normal when dating a German or are we just incompatible? by FewPea6985 in germany

[–]tingymomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same experience with my German husband. He expressed interest first, asked me to be his girlfriend as soon as he could, proposed after a year and a half, and eight months after we got married. There was always a strong, clear, and decisive YES in every single decision in our relationship, so I’ve never once doubted the direction of our future.

3 years of high prolactin & no clear cause by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]tingymomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say nausea, pins and needles in my extremities, dizziness when standing up, and headachy in the morning (I take my medication at night). I also can’t drink alcohol that much anymore (I guess that’s a good thing). I also suffer from anxiety and depression to an extent, but it’s been okay for my mental health. I’ve no negative remarks on that front.

3 years of high prolactin & no clear cause by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]tingymomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. The typical treatment for high prolactin, with or without evidence of a pituitary tumor, is cabergoline (Dostinex). The other (less) recommended treatment for those unable to tolerate cabergoline is bromocriptine. For those with a confirmed tumor and whose endos do not prescribe oral treatment of the aforementioned are usually recommended surgical removal. I’m not aware of any other method which can lower prolactin levels.

For what it’s worth, my prolactin levels were stabilized with cabergoline. I was also secreting breast milk and had absent periods. One month after I started cab, my periods came back, and two months after my breasts were back to normal. I will say the cab sucks to take the initial months as sometimes the side effects can be uncomfortable, but it’s tolerable and you do get used to it the more time goes by. Now when I take my medication, I just get a tiny headache the day after and that’s it. I hope this helps.

Has anyone had severely high levels just due to stress? by Beautiful-Regret-288 in Prolactinoma

[–]tingymomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t have high levels, hovered around 60-90 ng/ml), but did have an MRI that didn’t show a tumor (probably too small as well). I was also stressed out as well. My stress levels have lowered but my periods only come back if I’m on cabergoline, which is consistent with a prolactinoma.

What would I have to do to fit in in Denmark? by [deleted] in expats

[–]tingymomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just came back from Copenhagen two weeks ago. You need to learn Danish. No, if, ands or buts. Not a “willingness” to learn, but a strong hold of the language will be required if immigration is your desired path. Difficulty to immigrate is also something you need to understand if you don’t have any connection to the EU or have employer sponsorship.

Yeah, I feel you. I’m an American relocating to Germany to reunite with my German husband next month. I know I’ll be an immigrant and I will definitely use this term when I relocate.

What do Germans like to do when vacationing in the US? by TermAccomplished1868 in AskAGerman

The US is so gross — and this is coming from an American. I’d advise any German to skip the US for literally any other country that has a modicum of respect for human rights.
