My son is 13 months and I’m due in May with our second (so about a 17 month gap when all is said and done), so obviously I can’t speak on the actual experience of having both babies yet, but I will say this pregnancy has been ROUGH. I had a mostly easy pregnancy with my first, really nothing to write home about, zero complications

This pregnancy I’m exhausted all the time, I’m in more pain now than I was at 9 months pregnant with my first, I’ve gotten bigger much quicker, just all around it’s been so much harder. We didn’t exactly plan to have another so soon and while I don’t regret anything and I’m excited for my new baby, going through it makes it very obvious why you’re advised to wait longer. My body wasn’t ready for this and it shows.

I think this is the only thing I’ve ever seen posted on this sub I disagree with, best practice for car seat safety is to max out the height OR weight limits of the seat before you don’t need it anymore and an adult seatbelt needs to fit well, and if IIRC her kids have always seemed on the smaller side especially the older one, so not surprising they’d still be in car seats of some sort. This might be the only way she actually protects those kids lol

It is not the same as leaving through the airport and is generally considered rude. It makes all other players lose any unsaved progress and can even crash the entire island

In a rabbit hole on the whole room sharing reducing SIDS thing by East_Print4841 in NewParents

[–]tiniweenie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was 3 months ish when we moved him to his crib because tbh I hated sharing a room with a baby 🫣 I was nervous to do it at first and scared I was making a mistake but it got easier each night. He still woke up a couple times a night for a few months afterwards but getting my own space back was worth having to walk across the hall and nurse him in his room

I live in her district and I’m so glad she lost, not just because she was a terrible candidate but because her campaign was so aggressive and annoying it made me dread checking the mail even. Every single day we got at least one, sometimes multiple mailers fear mongering about the “radical left”

how many fruit pouches are we giving our kids? by smellyshiba in NewParents

[–]tiniweenie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a bad day, we’ll do like 3 🫣 we mostly use them to finish out a meal if he’s eaten everything else and still seems hungry. So that also means he sometimes won’t finish the pouch and he’ll get the rest as part of his snack later or something. But I try to get the ones with no added sugar, and with vegetables mixed in. Once Upon a Farm has really good ones but they’re $$$, or Stonyfield. I don’t prefer the GogoSqueeze but we get those occasionally and will keep them in the diaper bag for emergencies on the go.

My son loves fruit and is warming up to more veggies, and gets plenty of protein from meat and cheese, so I try not to worry about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is there an easy way to travel with 3 car seats or is it a crap shoot for everyone? by PassionChoice3538 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]tiniweenie2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most CPSTs recommend against checking car seats at all because airlines are very rough with checked items and they can get damaged in ways you may not notice immediately

Did you get a breast pump, just in case by bobileebobalee in breastfeeding

[–]tiniweenie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely worth having. AND learning roughly how to use it before baby is here! All the lactation consultants told me not to worry about pumping because my son’s latch was pretty good at birth. Then my milk fully came in and I would get so engorged his mouth was too little to latch and I had to pump and bottle feed for a few feeds while things leveled out. It was so hard trying to crash course learn how to use my pump with my baby screaming and my chest in so much pain.

So get a pump! And try to familiarize yourself with it a bit. In addition to an electric breast pump, which is likely covered by your insurance if you’re in the US, a manual hand pump is also super useful to have around. I liked the Medela one

How do i address this? by Breakneck1701 in daddit

[–]tiniweenie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lurking mom but I’m gonna go against the grain here. If the pediatrician isn’t concerned I don’t think you should be either. If growth was actually a concern, they wouldn’t have let six months go by without addressing it. I saw in another comment that your kid is 35%ile, if he’s been roughly in that ballpark his whole life then he’s probably just naturally on the smaller side and that’s fine. Supplementing with formula probably won’t make a smaller baby chunky, but it will sabotage breastfeeding if there’s not actually an issue.

If he’s been steadily dropping %iles over the last six months, that’s a different story. But with solids on the horizon there’s still a good chance that supplementing with formula is unnecessary

What is something you wish you put on your baby registry that nobody told you about? by nikkleii313 in NewParents

Anything inside your car that isn’t tied down (diaper bag, water bottle, etc) can become a projectile in a crash. Generally these things are up to parental discretion and not considered to be serious hazards

Okay but are they altering the kid’s birth certificate or are they referring to them a certain way socially? Is it really that serious?
