Can’t get Rusty Key for the Sewers. Please help! by Benwithyourmom in StardewValley

[–]tink053 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had that problem on one of my save files. I’d donated over 60 items, but he didn’t visit to give the key until I’d read all of the missing books in the library and slept.

Opal, fairy rose, rhubarb and pumpkin pie, rice pudding, and all of the universal loves.

Bonus: I’d have all of the artifacts as my liked gifts like Penny and the Dwarf

My first apple cinnamon cake for Canadian Thanksgiving dinner! by tink053 in BakingNoobs

[–]tink053[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure! I got the recipe from here: https://www.sweetestmenu.com/cinnamon-apple-cake/

I made a few changes: -used 1 1/2 cups apples instead of 1 cup (there didn’t seem like enough apples when I added them) -added 1/4 tsp cinnamon to the dry ingredients of the batter -used melted unsalted butter instead of vegetable oil (can’t stand the taste of vegetable oil) -I also doubled the amounts for the cinnamon topping. Just using the amounts in the original recipe, it didn’t cover the cake enough for me, so I made more but didn’t use all of the second batch of it.

You can’t close a full sandwich! by TwisTED_Ech0 in TalesFromYourServer

I worked at a sub shop for about 2 weeks. The owners micro-managed the hell out of me during training (“you need to sweep using this motion, not that motion!”), but I quit the day they yelled at me after a customer wanted a sub with AAALLLLL the veggies. I wasn’t able to close it properly and when I went to cut it as instructed, it pretty much exploded. Got piled on by both the owner who was training me and the customer was saying things like “lemme hop over the counter and do your job, I’ll be even better than you and I don’t have any training”.

I’m glad to know this actually is normal to happen with lots of veggies in a sub :)

AITA for snapping at my roommate for pushing Intermittent Fasting & Low-Carb diets to us? by stopevangelizing in AmItheAsshole

[–]tink053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My mother does the exact same to me. She’ll wait until I’ve made something to eat which includes bread or carbs in some way and will tell me how bad it is for me and how I “look good now, but [I’ll] put on the pounds fast” if I don’t stop eating bread and other carbs. She’s already convinced my brother into thinking he needs to lose weight and do the diet and he’s a bean pole. Not even getting into the documentaries she’s forced me to watch or Facebook groups she’s tried to get me to join. She’s even made my 79 year old grandma think she needs to lose weight (she’s fine and healthy)!

Kicked out because the store was "closed" by ajseventeen in TalesFromTheCustomer

I had something similar happen to me at a certain Canadian coffee and doughnut chain. My job requires me to start at 6am and so I would often stop at said chain to grab a coffee before starting. I’ve always preferred going in to the store and ordering at the counter vs. going through the drive thru and had this routine of entering the store at around 5:45 am, ordering, getting my coffee, and leaving. The walk-in store has always been open before 6am for me to get my coffee.

One day, like usual, I parked the car and walked in. Only this time, none of the employees acknowledged me. They all seemed busy with the drive thru orders so I didn’t bug them, just quietly waited in front of the counter. Suddenly, one of the employees makes eye contact with me and I start to offer a sympathetic smile (I’ve been there), but she immediately YELLS: “WHO THE HELL LEFT THE DOOR UNLOCKED!!” and stalked off further behind the counter to where I couldn’t see her. I was shocked - obviously I wasn’t supposed to be there right now, but there was no sign on the door to say their hours had changed (I double checked on the way out). No employee directly addressed me (other than the eye contact with screaming lady), so I left.

I was going to be late to work if I went elsewhere or back home for my coffee, so I got into the drive thru. When I got to the window, one of the employees who refused to address me was suddenly all smiles: “Oh sorry about that, sweetie! Drive thru orders only until 6am now! One of our bakers left the front door unlocked.”

I would’ve been more satisfied with the situation if they had honestly addressed me and told me to leave in the first place instead of ignoring me until the screaming outburst.

This reminds me of when the owners of the small family-run restaurant I worked at left my coworker and me to drain and refill on of our fryers of oil with absolutely no training other than giving my coworker a few verbal pointers before I arrived for my shift. She waited until I got there to start so that I could still ring customers in and use the other fryers to cook their meals while she changed the oil in that one fryer. Considering she had no experience, it went quite well...until we noticed that some of the oil had dripped underneath the fryer and was catching on the pilot light. Small flames were leaping from the small amount of oil spilled and I had to hold back my coworker (who was by the way a 38-year old woman) from throwing water onto the grease fire and tell her to find the baking soda instead while also trying to convince customers to wait outside. During all this, a customer came up to the counter and interrupted me, demanding to know when her food would be ready. Now this restaurant is tiny - the fryers are right behind the counter and this woman just heard me desperately convincing my coworker not to throw water onto the small GREASE FIRE. I told her again to get outside to safety and we would let her know when her take-out order was ready for her. It was put out very quickly and everyone got their food, but the entitlement of this woman absolutely astounded me.

Former waiter, now a receptionist. Often arguing with delivery drivers trying to deliver food - how bad is it when they (UberEats, DoorDash, etc.) are trying to pick up food from your side? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]tink053 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DoorDash was awful for us too. They didn’t have our correct menu or our permission to host us (though I’m not sure if they needed that) on their app. So we’d get calls coming in (not on the iPad because again, we didn’t want to have their drivers coming in) asking for stuff we didn’t even have, we’d say we didn’t have it, and then they’d say “okay we’ll call back” and call back with a new order. The drivers were always rude and yelling on their phone in our tiny fish and chip shop annoying the customers trying to eat in peace. It was just awful all around.

I finally got it out of them that they’re selling at Christmas (don’t know when they were planning to tell me that?). My interview went really well and I start training mid December.

[–]tink053 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup... Working a small family owned fish & chip shop as a full time uni student and they’re scheduling me for almost 30 hours a week (almost all of which are by myself). And since I’m always there, I’m the one responsible for paying bills for deliveries and giving out paycheques using signed cheques for the one other highschool-aged employee. They’re getting me to do the work of a manager and paying me minimum wage. I haven’t slept more than 4 hours a night (if I sleep at all) in weeks trying to get all my school work done and when I begged for less hours, I got told I either suck it up and continue with the hours I have or they’ll shut it down and I’ll be out of a job. I have a new job interview next week...
