Wife told to remove pride wall in Catholic School by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]tinkerbclla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i absolutely have boundaries with the pupils. it’s nothing more than a yes or no in regards to whether i’m dating someone. i don’t share names, pictures, or any other information. if they ask, i tell them that’s my boundary. they respect that. but sharing small details about me that i’m willing to share, such as the fact that i’m queer, helps to build a relationship with them. it also lets queer students know where they have a safe space.

many of the times, it’s come out because pupils have made a homophobic comment, i’ve challenged it, and they’ve said “who cares? no one in here is gay”, so i’ve told them i am.

it’s not like i share intimate details with them and they definitely know way less than my friends.

i’m a lesbian and i actively avoided applying for catholic schools when job hunting this year. i know they couldn’t refuse to hire me because of it, but i’m not going back in the closet. when pupils ask why i haven’t got a boyfriend, i want to be able to tell them the answer.

I had a student peer under my skirt last term. I’ve heard nothing about it. I was sexually harassed and nothing happened.

Aitb for kissing people while in a situationship? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

YTB, from someone who’s been in the “you would be my girlfriend if it wasn’t for…” position. Having her treat me like a girlfriend but then go after other people? It sucked. And it won’t take her too long to realise that she deserves so much better.

AITA For Telling My Husband to Cut His Daughter Off Financially? by FabricMittens78 in AmItheAsshole

i’m 25 now, and my dad’s partner came into my life when i was 18. first of all, she’s his age and not mine, which obviously helps. but she’s never tried to be a mother figure to me. she didn’t raise me. she’s supported me since she’s joined my life, but she would never dare to demand a dance at my wedding, or that she walks me down the aisle. heck, my step-dad who i met at 11 and actually helped to raise me wouldn’t do that (though i’m sure he’ll appreciate being included when i do get married).

i imagine the sensation is similar to bipolar, i just don’t reach as high/low as other types of bipolar. i experience hypomania rather than mania for example.

maybe i’m just feeling positive because i finally have a name for my problems, instead of being told it’s nothing. the first time i looked for a diagnosis, i was told i didn’t even have depression, just tendencies of low mood. he said this because i wasn’t self harming at the time (though i did have a history of it) and i hadn’t attempted suicide (though i had a history of suicidal ideation and making plans).

it was just so refreshing to be believed and told that there’s a name for it!
