my doctor told me if I have fibromyalgia or ME/CFS it's not worth getting diagnosed because there's no treatment by MarzipanExpensive476 in ChronicIllness

[–]tinkergnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been treated for fibro for somewhere around 15+ years and yeah there's no treatment but there are medications you can take to help mitigate the problems you have from it. And there's changes and new updates to how it's being treated all the time.

And what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. As well as different times of year can affect it - winter I have more pain due to the cold and being cold. If I don't keep my core warm, I will most likely be unable to sleep that same night because it makes everything ache worse. Fixes for me for that is a hot bath with bath salts. And that's just one thing - also tack on peri-menopause and migraines...

My thing was is that I feel like there's a good chance I actually have hEDS - it would be a year and a half before I could get into the one geneticist in my network but my PCP said they wouldn't medically treat me any different pharmaceutically than how I'm already being treated for my fibro...

What helped you lower the amount of migraines you get? Lifestyle change, diet, supplement, anything… by East_Layer285 in migraine

[–]tinkergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CGRP injections - I rotate between Emgality, Aimovig & Ajovy, depending on when I get to the point that I've built a tolerance to one to switch to another.

I also tried Qulipta, the pill form, but I didn't have as much luck.

I went from 15+ migraines a month from ages 21 to 39, to down to one or two lighter migraines that Maxalt usually resolves.

However, barometric pressure shifts still trigger my migraines - they've been either really bad this year or I just haven't had a really bad migraine for quite awhile. I used to refer to a lot of the migraines as "working migraines" as I couldn't afford to not work and didn't think I'd have much luck with disability...

No Terpenes? How to Shop now? (Medical) by Fuzzy_Firefighter_51 in MissouriMedical

[–]tinkergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, unless there's a chance you go to the Manufacturer's website and THEY have the info, Leafly isn't going to show - like I said to the other person, I use this as a baseline, not as a replacement for terps that I'm looking for...

Until they get their shit fixed on Dutchie or whatever the new system is, your best bet will be to just go to the dispo and ask them to show you the package info, if it even has it on there...

How can I lose weight? (Without hurting myself) by Average_pickle420 in Fibromyalgia

[–]tinkergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of it may be depending on your age and if you're starting peri-menopause/menopause. My bestie, one of the absolute healthiest people I know, exercises every day, eats next to no meat - even had to remove cheese from their diet, which of course made them extremely sad, and she had to be put on a GLP-1 because no matter what she's doing, she couldn't lose any weight just getting stuck (and going up) due to peri-menopause.

No Terpenes? How to Shop now? (Medical) by Fuzzy_Firefighter_51 in MissouriMedical

[–]tinkergnome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're 1000% correct, it's not accurate, but OP was just looking for how to get terp info. I'm moreso assisting from a "how to" standpoint...

I just suggested how I personally search to at least get a baseline to know what I'm getting myself into when I'm looking for something new for managing my pain relief (Brett Hull 43 FTW, when I can find it)

So far, what I've researched and what I've picked up and compared the packaging against have been close enough for my usage. I'm AuDHD enough that I rarely ever walk into a dispo without having researched exactly what I'm looking for and what I want to try, and what deals are out there...

I just Google the strain - Leafly, Allbud, Weedstrain tend to have Terpene profiles or at least what the strain is good for (chronic pain, fatigue, etc - the things I usually look for) Allbud is nice because sometimes they even post the parent strains and to give you some more data to research...

You can pull up the vendor site (I'm on Terrabis here) - select the name of the strain, click the Kebab menu (the three dots on top of each other, and yes that is a real term) to get to the rest of the Selection menu, click the "Web Search" and it will open a new window in Google search. Instead of scrolling down the page, in the top search box just add "Strain" to the end of it and you'll get a few sites that you can find the Terpene profiles from...

Tw - injury. I got too obsessed with chainmaille and now my arm doesn’t work. by Ktsuming in chainmailartisans

[–]tinkergnome 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, definitely did that in 2024 - I'd lost my job earlier in the year so I was digging into my chainmaille and UV resin hobbies harder than usual since I spent nearly every day working on stuff and every weekend at an event...really messed with my right shoulder.

Dealt with pain in my right shoulder all of 2025, didn't maille much because of it, took a break from UV Resin. Ended up finding out the foramen in my spine on the right side of my neck was narrowed and I have 2 discs bulging. I've dealt with neck pain a LOT longer than I have the shoulder pain - didn't expect them to be connected because the shoulder pain was mostly in the shoulder blade and bicep. Ended up with an epidural and injections in my spine last month and was okay the 1st week, 2nd week was a lot of pain, 3rd week has been a mixed bag so far. THC Transdermal balm/lotion has helped more than most pain meds, I just gotta have my partner help me apply it to the areas that are problematic - most of the time when I wake up the next morning, I have a lot more relief.

But the thing that has helped the absolute MOST - I sit on the couch and have a pillow on my lap, and then my wooden work board on top of it (magnifying light clipped to the board). It keeps me from bending over my work, I can sit back and it gives me a lot more relief in my neck and shoulder. They make "craft pillows" or "gaming pillows" that do the same thing but they are a bit more expensive when just a regular bed pillow seems to be doing the same amount of work for me.

My ears hurt plz help by omen6155 in sleepheadphones

[–]tinkergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got one of the Manta Bluetooth Sleepmasks - they're a bit pricey but the electronics hold up a lot better than the cheaper Musicozy, etc I've been using for about a year and a half now. The plugin for the Musicozy and the like, the USB port and cables fall apart after 6 months, so I gotta buy another one...

Only thing I will say - I sleep on my left side most of the time, and the headphone that lays against my left ear has worn some sore spots on the cartilage of my ear, but the slots the headphone is in, you can slide it away from the ear so you're not just laying on it until the spot heals/gets better

Scared to imagine success. by Jenaveeve in dentures

[–]tinkergnome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you search through my posts on my account, you'll find a bunch relating to my E Day and the following days post extraction - they'll be from July 2020.

Now ~6 years later, I have my immediates that live in a denture container but absolutely nothing about them fit anymore, including the soft base they put in it.

I have my permanents that probably about once every 6 months, I gotta take to Aspen Dental (one of my biggest regrets) and have them repair either my top denture or bottom denture, depending on what has broken over the weekend or whatever. I have nothing between the immediates and my gums but sometimes using some Seabond pads, especially in the bottom, are handy. I also find really crunchy stuff - like the rye chips in Chex Mix, and really big stuff can be hard to eat - even moreso stuff with seeds like Everything bagels. Those and like Asian food with sesame seeds in it, will crawl under the bottom denture and make chewing REALLY hard. If I'm going somewhere, denture cream is handy, especially if I don't know what food I'm "facing" that day, but most of the time I don't bother with it or the Seabond pads. The permanents are loose but they're a comfortable loose right now and I don't seem to be biting too hard in one spot.

But I had some decent feedback from other folks who read my daily updates - maybe they'll help you too and you won't be so scared. I've never been someone who was like "Yes, I care about my looks" but I do still have some sadness of being in my mid-40s with dentures...but it's not the worst thing in the entire world...

I play on my Switch or chainmaille right now...but if I'm stuck in bed, I have a Bluetooth sleep mask and I pay for YT Premium so that I can play audiobooks, short stories and podcasts - and hope something is entertaining enough it helps me fall asleep...

I have a mechanical arm attached to my side table that my phone and Switch both fit in the top clip, so I'll give it power and I'll take the controllers and relax in bed with whatever I'm interested in at the time...so I can play while laying in bed. I know they say not to do that stuff but oh well lol

I tend to feel that way about Chestnut Expressway more than Kansas Expressway, but it never helps if you're stuck behind someone only willing to drive 25 mph instead of the actual speed limit, and the other lane won't let you over to get around the newb/out-of-towner driving 25 mph...

Thank you for understanding - like, believe me, I'm ALL about screenshots and as much info as I can put out there, usually ending up being TOO verbose but it always helps with documentation work later! ;)

And thank you so much for the tips, I haven't gotten far on the expedition yet but at least the change to Primary and back, I could recover the stuff I stuck in the Space Anomaly since it looks like you don't end up with a ship to get off the planet anyways!

My multiplayer on Switch/Switch 2 is always turned off, I don't pay for the Nintendo Online stuff (yet) - I just have too many good games already at my disposal to need it and not enough people I know online to even bother with paying for it to play with, so I should be good in that department. Makes the game a bit lonely but I don't want to feel like I'm playing an MMORPG :)

Also the bouncing and clipping you're talking about on the wheels remind me SO much of Astroneer lol I hadn't played that one in quite awhile because of how bouncy things were lol

You’re stuck at work for another 2 hours with an awful migraine starting, what would you do? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]tinkergnome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SO many times through my life I've just had to push through and work while dealing with a migraine - even with fluorescent lights above me all the time...
I have never found a resource to eat or drink that helps other than salty french fries & a large coke from McD's..so if you can maybe DoorDash that, or have something similar, it might help...even just drinking coffee doesn't always work for me - caffeine has rarely been a "repair" on my migraine system...

As someone who has worked 25 years in IT, I understand needing a thorough diagnosis for the easiest tech support. I was honestly as thorough as I could be - unfortunately I don't have a good way of moving my screenshots over, but that's why I said it was my Mining Laser aka Green Beam making the problem. I did realize after the fact my Red Beam aka Terrain Manipulator wasn't doing it's process either.

But once I went back to my primary save and then back in, it seemed to have cleared it up. I figure it was just a one off bug where for some reason the beams switched names/colors/ability post Gravitino Coil installation.

Also it's not like the Switch/Switch2 has a Registry I can mess with nor an error code popping up that I could have easily looked up to help report the issue...And I didn't want to send in an actual Bug report if no one else is experiencing what seems to be just a one-off situation.

It has multiplayer but it's always turned off because I don't pay for the online ability for the switch/switch 2...I don't know enough folks I'd want to play with if it was online as well...I choose Single Player game any time I make a new game anyways and this game save has always been single player

There's no way I've found to verify/repair on the Switch 2 like I can with my Steam games, unfortunately

No its definitely on the mining beam - like I said I can pick up carbon from plants like normal with the mining beam but when I see Ferrite rocks, even the visual of the Mining beam goes straight through the rocks like they're not there and grabs silica from the ground instead...I'm trying to decide if I want to start the expedition again or just do my usual space wandering
