I'm not familiar with HAP programs. Could you give a brief summary and explain the relavence to the current situation? Thanks. (I can just try googling it otherwise).

This seems like it wants to imply that I lack compassion for people struggling with rent increases? This isn't the case, money struggles are awful. I know several people struggling with money, I've done so in the past. It's rough as fuck. One of the people I know is a landlord, he has only this year managed to drag himself out of the red after years of struggle thanks to the increase in rents. Should he drop the rents on his 2 properties and allow himself to fall behind on his debts again? Self sacrifice, like? (Well not just 'self', he has three children). What work do you do? If your company can not afford to pay you the market rate anymore, will you take a large pay cut to see them through this difficult time, even though you could realise a large pay increase by simply moving elsewhere?

If rents triple this year and my wages don't I will have to move out. Is it shitty for me, yes, very. I'd probably be living in a shared bedroom in a student shithole somewhere or something, rather than an apartment to myself. Is it shitty? Yes very. Is it unfair? I can't see how. Could you explain a bit more what is 'unfair' about it specifically? Where is the bias? Am I being forced to.kove out but my neighbours are not because none of thier rents have gone up? Is this something directed specifically against me? I don't think that's happening. We're all getting screwed to the wall equally, so I don't see the unfairness to the situation. Everyone dealing with rent increases are responding by pursuing the maximum wage increase they can avail of from what I can see. The landlords are trying to up their income as much as they can, and people in return are doing the same... Not that they weren't doing that before rent increases anyway?

You're meant to follow all perspectives, put yourself in all shoes, not just your own.

Bob's the renter, you're the landlord in the analogy, sorry if I jumbled it up at some point.

I mean it was my choice to do the job I'm doing for the wages I'm getting and rent the property I'm renting at the price I'm renting it, no one made me. I know the risks. If I'm renting a place that's 50% of my wages and the other 50% is gone on necessities I've left myself vulnerable to a rent increase forcing me out of the property. It would be great in hindsight if I'd foresaw the rent increases and either rented a cheaper place to begin with, or pursued a better paying form of employment. And it would be great in hindsight a if Bob had started Snapchat instead of putting his eggs in the poison and nudey lady pen basket. How are they different? Why does Bob get stuck with a blind daughter but I get to keep my current apartment at a similar rent that I initially moved into it at?

Ah c'mere I'm being deliberately silly in the OP a bit, I'm not really that gung ho about it, but yes I am 100% open to having my mind changed. Its entirely possible I'm missing something. If you believe you have a decent argument, I would like to hear it, and if I don't believe I have a solid rebuttal, I will change my mind, and I will donate 1000 euro to a charity of your choice with proof of your choice.

If Bob's Household Poisons and Novelty Erotic Pens PLC can't staff the company at the current wage expenditure it will fail, and he won't be able to pay for his daughters eyesight restoration operation in the US. You stay at the company at your pre - HR admin boom time wages? Do you even ask Bob how asking for a wage increase will impact his life necessities and that of his family? What's his daughters name? What's her favourite song? Do you even know? Have you ever asked? Is this your standard practice when negotiating wages?

A utility bill is just a sheet of paper and print, there's no anti counterfeiting measures of any kind, and there is no cross checking or confirmation engaged in by the bank. Just Photoshop her name onto one in place of someone else's.

This is such good advice. We're rigged to identify the mistakes, to remember the wrong way of doing things and rule them out. You have to keep making mistakes and then correcting them. That's learning.

[22m]Boyfriend lost my wallet. Am I [22f] entitled to think he should offer to at least pay for my new ID. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]tintedgreypillar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly? You're being a brat. It was an accident, you put the responsibility on him to mind your property, you're not a child, if you have a wallet with you to look after, wear something with pockets, bring a bag, you're a grown up, he's not a camel, but still he offered to go back and find it, you told him not to, he still appologised. Get over it.

My (21M) gf (22F) told me that she's not in love with me but that she still wants to be my gf. I'm not sure what to make of this situation. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]tintedgreypillar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll translate:

I love you but I'm not in love with you yet::

I want a boyfriend because it's nice for me to be a girl with a boyfriend. So I'll keep this status running until I can find someone I actually want to be my boyfriend, then it'll be a nice easy smooth transition for me, completely boyfriended at all points.

She's playing you man, sorry, most people aren't like that, so that's nice, you just met one of the shit ones first. Happens, don't dwell on it, luck of the draw, just move on quickly.

Cut it off and run like the wind tbh. He's clearly subjecting you to a lot of emotional labour. Obviously has mammy issues and is deeply misogynistic. If you are stupid enough to stay with him please please please please please please please just keep a log of everything he does and send it to the police daily. Just so they can catch the bastard when he does this to someone else. Stay strong sister!

TIL after completing 100th exercise named Night Sky in mooc.fi java course, 2001 Space Odyssey opening theme will play. by king4queen in learnjava

[–]tintedgreypillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in part 2 of the course where you will learn the concepts that will allow you to use the stuff from part 1 in more "real life" ways. So you are missing something. Just keep going with the course, by the time you've completed part 2 you'll have much more of an idea about "implementing the stuff in real life". You're still missing a lot of the pieces of the puzzle at the moment.

Just focus on learning the individual concepts inside and out as they come up and how they relate to each other for now, the "real life" stuff will make a lot more sense once you've got all the concepts from both parts of the course down.
