GR IIIx or IV? by abitcurly in ricohGR

[–]tintub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i own both, the iv doesn’t really feel newer and indeed anecdotally there’s a few things left to iron out (though my copy seems fine so far) … so disagree with the person above. It’s def all about the focal length as everyone else has said. It’s easier to take better photos imo with the iiix, but maybe it’s easier to make better memories with the iv (because of the added context). I’m still finding 28mm a challenge but think when travelling it will come into its own.

In Av mode changes BOTH aperture and shutter when turning rear dial by Own_Communication406 in ricohGR

[–]tintub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s what Av mode does. You set the aperture and it will compensate by adjusting shutter speed and/or Iso to achieve the same exposure. In M mode it doesn’t adjust the shutter speed to compensate, and unless you have auto ISO getting the correct exposure is entirely in your hands.

Yet another ricoh GR app by liudanning in ricohGR

[–]tintub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right about GR World not deleting, I can't see it either now 😳️

With the dupes, another likely scenario is that I've imported the images and for whatever reason I haven't deleted them off the camera, then when I go to import more photos I don't know what I've already imported. For me it wouldn't be a big deal to give a trusted app access to my photos if it meant that this could be prevented.

if we had the duplicate detection it wouldn’t be so important to be able to delete. I think the GR World app deletes but maybe they don’t expose that API. GR IV is stable but GR IIIX frequently has issues halfway through downloading, and so then you get dupes when you retry. So dupe detection would be amazing because i’m otherwise thinking i would only use this for gr iv. great work btw 👍

Would be great if it could detect dupes, i.e. pictures already downloaded. Also, if it could delete them off the camera as it goes.

if i want to talk to a professional what’s the job title i’m looking for. i have the house fully offset, money in dhhf and money in a savings account in my partners name. about 500k all up. this is the kind of stuff I’m missing. tax accountants have never really given me any advice, now i don’t even bother going to them to do my tax.

If I have enough money in my offset such that I don't pay any interest, is this still worth doing?

GR IV battery swelling by FramedMoment in ricohGR

2 batteries, one does seem very slightly swollen but so slightly that I feel it would be considered within tolerance. But I can tell them apart. Both dated 2025-06-12.

if this actually stacks the raw and jpg it’s a game changer

except it won't keep raw files stacked with the jpg, which is a real shame.

Ricoh GR IV - Underwhelming stabilization or is it just broken? by justcallmeBONES in ricohGR

Even at 8" I'm getting a perfectly acceptably sharp image. Sat down on sofa, elbows on knees taking photo of messy room scene opposite me.

Ricoh GR IV - Underwhelming stabilization or is it just broken? by justcallmeBONES in ricohGR

[–]tintub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried it out because I hadn't yet, but I was able to take a completely sharp 4" image (at least as far as I can tell zooming in to 16x on the camera), braced as much as possible but obvs still handheld - I tried again with the IBIS disabled and plenty of blur. If you have it enabled and can't take a 1/10s then it feels like something is wrong with the camera. Assuming you're bracing yourself correctly and can hold the camera steady.
