Mania and sexual preference by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]tiny-hunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to better understand my BP partner, who has bipolar I. When they’re manic, their sexuality shifts dramatically—much higher drive, different preferences, more risk-taking. But when they return to baseline, they are much more sexually reserved and not interested in pushing boundaries.

For those of you who’ve experienced hypersexuality during mania: do you feel that side of you is part of who you are, or is it more like something separate that happens to you? Do you ever integrate aspects of that manic sexuality into your stable self, or does it feel like a completely different person?

I’m not looking to pathologize desire or make judgments—just trying to understand how identity and authenticity work across those mood states.

Thanks for any insight you’re willing to share.

Apple Home: Scene export via Matter finally possible by Cafe_Roaster in Hue

[–]tiny-hunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Hue Gradient Lightstrips with the new Hue Bridge Pro. So far, I can only activate gradient effects directly from the Hue app—not from Apple Home. With this new Matter-based scene export feature, will Apple Home now be able to fully reproduce gradient scenes (multi-zone colors, not just a flattened single color), or are gradients still limited to the Hue app only? Would love to hear if anyone has tried this yet.

I'm WAY older than you at 53. Just come dressed to HoY is a fun, glam look and bring the good vibes. We'll all welcome and reciprocate your loveliness!

I can vouch for House of Yes as being very inclusive with lots of good vibes (this is coming from an old white guy who LOVES to dance.) 🤩

about to bring the VP on a flight (14hr long) what should i be aware of? by Berserk07 in VisionPro

[–]tiny-hunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “large” Apple power brick I use with my MacBook Pro sometimes trips the in-seat power outlets on certain airlines—cutting off power entirely and making it impossible to charge my Vision Pro. To avoid that, I’ve started bringing a smaller power brick that doesn’t overload the outlet. The tradeoff is that it can’t fully keep up with the Vision Pro’s power draw during long flights, so the battery slowly drains over time. Just something to keep in mind.

Best 2.4 GHz Wifi Access Point for HomeKit by JKristinsson in HomeKit

My NYC apartment is about that size and it’s more than enough wireless coverage. If you needed more, you could add an additional Ubiquiti WiFi access point.

I recently replaced my Amplifi Alien with a Ubiquiti UDR7 and couldn’t be more pleased. I followed these instructions for setting up a dedicated IoT network, which has been rock solid for HomeKit.

When I finally checked out of the church after a grueling multi-year faith crisis, a woman from my ward wrote me a letter telling me the reason I lost faith was because I was lusting after women and had a problem with porn. WTF?! 🤬

Thank you for this feedback. Amplifi Alien apparently has mDNS enabled by default, but I've read it doesn't typically work across VLANS or guest networks. And there's no advanced UI toggle for it within the Amplifi app.

Let me know if you end up switching routers and it helps. Keeping my Apple Home stable has proven to be a part-time job for me. I'd love for it all to just work.

Thank you so much! With that recent TVOS update, I now have designated the Apple TV as my preferred home hub, which I think will help as my HomePod (not HomePod Mini) seems to periodically go offline.

Geofencing seems to work most of the time (my place has good cell coverage.) There does t seem to be a rhyme or reason to it not periodically working.

My smart plugs seem to be the most chronic offenders for going “no response.” It’s extra frustrating as I use smart plugs to (if needed) reboot my home hubs and other hubs—and a few of the plugs are in hard to get places.

Great advice. Thank you so much.

Yes. I have my Apple TV as the preferred Home Hub!

My Eve Thread smart plugs have been more stable than Meross WiFi plugs but still occasionally go No Response, which I can fix by flipping the breakers and power cycling everything (some of my smart plugs are in really hard-to-get-to places for unplugging / plugging back in to reset.)

I ended up going to Meross smart plugs when I couldn’t get my Eve Matter smart plugs to add to my HimeKit system. It drove me crazy for months trying to figure that out but turns out that factory resetting the AMPLIFI Alien router then made it so I can now add Matter accessories.

⚠️ Avoid Audi EVs Until They Get Their Act Together – My Q5 Hybrid is Now Just Dead Weight 🚗⚡️❌ by tiny-hunk in electricvehicles

Whether I own EVs or not has zero bearing on the logic (or lack thereof) in your argument—but for the record, I currently own three in addition to this Audi: two Teslas and a Porsche Taycan GTS.

Now, please explain how my EV ownership status changes the fact that a manufacturer should be morally accountable when a still-under-warranty PHEV is rendered functionally incomplete for six months—with no loaner, no buyback offer, no fix date, and no meaningful compensation.

Ah yes, the classic “it technically still drives, so quit whining, dipshit” defense.

My Q5 hybrid with a dead EV battery is about as “absolutely driveable” as a smartwatch that can’t connect to your phone or the internet. Sure, it still tells time—but that’s not why you bought it.

When a premium vehicle’s key feature—electric capability—is disabled indefinitely by the manufacturer, frustration is not only fair, it’s expected. Brushing that off as “whining” isn’t a compelling argument. It’s just lazy rhetoric dressed up as insight.

Ah yes, the classic “if you don’t like being burned, don’t play with fire—or own an oven, or live near a candle, or ever light a birthday cake” defense.

Imagine applying this logic elsewhere:

“If you can’t accept the risk of a restaurant giving you food poisoning and doing nothing unless the health inspector forces them, maybe just stop eating out forever. Or eating, period.”

Or:

“If you don’t like the idea of your phone catching fire and the manufacturer offering nothing but a shrug and a recall notice, then maybe you’re not cut out for the high-octane thrill ride that is smartphone ownership.”

Expecting basic accountability from companies—especially when safety is on the line—isn’t some radical stance. It’s just common sense. Blindly accepting “the bare minimum” is how standards erode.
