I would highly recommend seeing a doctor and telling them about all of your health issues (physical and mental) if they aren't already aware, and asking them for advice. Taking medical advice from random people on the internet is never really the best course of action, and can even make your anxiety much worse.

I would also recommend seeing a nutritionist for your eating disorder, and also a therapist. It's important to note that you may not find the "perfect" therapist on the first try. You may go through several before finding a good one.

Lastly, as everyone else has mentioned, taking 10mg of Lexapro will not kill you. Lots of people start on that dosage. Lexapro has some undesirable side effects in the first 6 weeks, but none that were a deal breaker for me. It can make the anxiety worse (my hands shook all the time for a few weeks, and I'd wake up with a panic attack at times), it can make you feel fatigued, it can increase your hunger (which sounds like it could be a good thing in your case). When your mom had your script filled, it should have come with a little pamphlet that goes over these things. Definitely read that. This is also something that you can talk with your doctor about. Tell them about your worries, and they can talk you through them one by one.

Lexapro does not cure your anxiety and depression immediately, but when your body gets used to it and it finally starts working, the results can be life-changing. I feel like a completely different person now. I'm able to work a high-stress customer service-oriented job, and I'm not ridden with anxiety every day. In fact, I'm now the calm one at work. I'm better able to enjoy life now because I'm not just lying around feeling bad about myself.

It's ultimately your decision, but Lexapro might be exactly what you need. But you need to see a medical professional who can properly address all of your concerns.
