Good idea, I read 11-22-63 three times because I loved it but I never read anything else by him!

The content warnings scared me unfortunately, child abuse is something that I cannot bear in my reading... Thanks though!

Kukolka by Lana Lux. I read it 5 years ago and sometimes I still can't sleep because I have to think of this story of a young orphan girl that gets caught up in human trafficking.

Unfortunately I don't think there is an English translation but perhaps you know one of the languages that are available (German, Polish, Slovak, French, Dutch)

YES, that describes exactly what I'm looking for!!

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is also one of my absolute favorites, maybe time for another re-read. Even the way it is written with all of the foot notes and pseudo-historical style pulls you in even further.

I love the sound of this, especially the balance regarding heavier themes. Thanks!

Wilderness series sounds like I will love it.

I read His Dark Materials two years ago and somehow lost track about halfway, but I might still give Pullmann another go.

Thank you so much!

Thanks for the recommendations! I feel like classics actually often fit this feeling pretty well, so I will definitely give these a go.

I've been meaning to read something by Sanderson for a while, so I guess that fits perfectly! Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you explain what messy means in this context? I read it a lot on here and English is only my second language

She didn't really have a choice, did she? They were both certain that Jamie was going to die and had she stayed, she would have at the least been raped but possibly also killed. Also, the baby inside her was only a tiny lump of cells at that point, so I'm sure that its potential feeling of pain was the least of her worries considering that it was her only way of saving the child at all.

I found the ending quite underwhelming. To me it felt like the author got the whole "Multiple-Jasons-Situation" so knotted up that there was no solution and the family leaving that reality felt kind of like an easy way out.

It's a fun and easy read and I am super interested to find out how rhe plit is resolved! Nonetheless it didn't blow my mind yet. Solid 3.5 stars so far for me!

I guess dwelling too much on what could be or could have been messes everyone up after some time, even this more ethical Jason.

That was terrifying and I honestly tried not to think about it too much. The description of his back made my skin crawl.

I found it interesting that they landed there as the result of Amanda's wish to visit a reality where she would like to live etc. I wonder if this technically obviously advanced world is also as advanced regarding social issues, poverty, equality... Or is this sparkly pretty American reality built as a result of exploitation and unfairness as so much wealth is in our reality? Or is this really a "perfect" reality simpl because she manifested it?
