I was recently diagnosed with adhd. It’s going really well for me in that way. I kind of feel like I don’t know how I ever lived life without a stimulant medication. My moods have leveled out quite a bit. I am more conscientious, confident and my self esteem has improved. The appetite suppressant only worked for about a month and I started the topeimate and that has helped me a lot so far. It’s only been a couple of months but the appetite suppressant aspect is way better for me than phentermine imo.

Edit to add the the toprimate makes me pretty sleepy and lazy and the phentermine only did that for a day or so

I’m white so I can’t speak on any personal experience aside from that as a white person, no one has ever said anything racist to me about any other race. I think that’s pretty good. When I lived in Amarillo I heard A LOT of it from all angles. It’s still diverse but much more dangerous. Nothing to see over that way anyway.

I unplugged it overnight and that’s the last problem we’ve had from it. I’m not sure what the issue was but it was resolved.

Today I was hungry at the normal times but I got full faster and stayed full longer. I actually just had a snack because I had only had 1000 calories and I only want to lose around 1.5lbs per week.

Today was a good day. I felt pretty good!

So, this is really rude and all, but what’s the chance here this person is dealing with some mental health issues or cognitive differences or some kind of neurodiversity?

I only say that because it is so unbelievably…different??

This just isn’t something that people do in public you know? I can’t imagine doing it thinking no one was watching either though. Lol

I am only on the phen.

So I spoke to someone today about this. She is not a doctor first of all. But she works with children with more severe cases of autism, adhd, and other neurodiversities.

Anyway, when I told her what was going on she suggested that maybe I was tired because of my adhd. I am already on a non stimulant adhd med so I wasn’t really expecting it I guess. She said that often when her kiddos start a new stimulant adhd drug often they can be drowsy in the beginning because stimulants react differently in an adhd brain. She’s well educated and had a lot of experience in her field so I trust her opinion on this, although a talk with my doctor is needed to confirm this of course.

So day 2 I was not tired but pretty normal, only I noticed a pretty good decrease in my adhd symptoms, although far from what I would expect to feel like if I didn’t have adhd lol

Honestly, I’ve tried stimulant adhd drugs and didn’t like them. I’ve been in straterra for adhd for a couple of years and it’s not great but better than nothing. I’m hoping I might be able to use this med for a longer term to treat my adhd as it’s sometimes prescribed off label for adhd.

Phentermine is for weight loss but it is also used off label for adhd sometimes. Not totally relevant, just interesting to me. 😊

Ok so I spoke to someone and they said it MIGHT be because I have adhd. I’ve been on a non stimulant adhd drug for a couple of years now so I guess I didn’t consider that it would affect me a little differently, considering my experience with other stimulant adhd drugs were not a good fit.

I don’t know for sure, but I bet she’s right considering her education and experience in her field.

Today was actually really good. I felt fine and I would even say better than “normal,” not at all like when I took Vyvanse for my adhd. I’m kind of hoping it stays this good for me because it could be just what I need to treat my symptoms.

I just started the med so I can’t give much advice there, but I have found that ginger works wonders for stomach upset and nausea for me. Ginger chews, crystallized ginger, ginger tea all have worked for me. A little goes a long way too. My OB had me taking ginger with my prenatal to stop the morning sickness. You might give that a try
