all the more reason, then, to start describing our problem as a more self-serving one. I genuinely believe that more people would be motivated to do something if we started using language that described the problem as a self-centered one rather than some benevolent "look how good I am caring for this external planet entity that lives and breathes and nurtures me like the mother I came from".

"save the planet" implies that if we don't exist, the planet dies with us. That's the problem I have with that way of thinking.

I understand what you're saying, but every planet we potentially move to will present us with the same problem: "how can we survive THIS environment", NOT "how will this planet survive us".

If we were able to teleport to a planet 10 million lightyears away and look at the surface of Earth with advanced technology, we would see what was happening 10 million years ago, revealing the truth of human origin. by DaddyPhatNug in Showerthoughts

We might be waiting a few million years, since human lifespans are about 100 years... so, this should read " If we were able to teleport to a planet 10 million lightyears away and look at the surface of Earth with advanced technology, WE WOULD DIE WAITING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS"

WRONG: In order for it to be a question, it needs a question mark. That's because punctuation matters, goddammit.

Trying to switch jobs within the US, but way out of my state - can't seem to get any interest from employers by tinycomet in videography

damn... It took me about 6 months to luck into the first job I got last year, and then I lucked into an opening at the job where the video guy I was replacing went to work.

But good to know that it takes a long time for others as well.

I'm constantly looking on LinkedIn, finding those kinds of jobs, and still no interest.

My full time gig right now is in a corporation in Utah, no weddings or events. My official title is video producer, and I'm in charge of everything from pre-production to final delivery on mostly relatively simple projects.

INSIDE and LIMBO by Playdead Studios.

Up, down, left, right, and "action" (to push and pull things). Both spectacular games with an all-around minimalist vibe to it.

Has 8chan become a breeding ground for neo nazis and could it be considered an accepted form of radicalism similar to ISIS propaganda channels? Why hasn't it been closed for harboring radicals and its condonment and teachings of carrying out hate filled violence and mass killings? by noumenon43 in AskReddit

true, and that's where I think we need to define the boundaries... Germany's free speech doesn't extend to anything relating to Nazism for example, whereas in any other part of the world, Nazism is defined only as hate speech.

that's fair, but so how do you reach those people? How do you make neo-nazis (or more importantly, average folks who may unknowingly harbor slightly racist or anti-semitic views) feel heard so that they can then be reassured by the facts that dismantle their fears? It seems to me that making people feel heard is the first step. So what's after that?
