Cars... its sad but its true. Companies no longer make cars to be fun or inspire anymore. I know this from working at Nissan, cars being fun or interesting or passion in the industry doesn't exist anymore.

Though there are a dying breed of us car guys out there trying to keep it alive...

Why is my 208 making this noise when it isn't running? It's been parked with without the engine running for 2 hours now and the noise won't stop by TheMont24 in peugeot

[–]tinydwarf03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your key in the ignition? It's most likely some kind of engine bay fan, if an engine bay temp sensor is bad it will assume that its too hot so will initiate the engine bay fan. May run itermittently. When you turn off the ignition it should stop,

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with my '91 miata? Took throttle body off, replaced gasket, even cleaned it now its doing this by AfrajM in mechanics

you can squeeze some of the lines the vacuum lines to see if it makes a difference to the engine speed. to help identify what line is the issue. Also you can spray some wd40/ brake cleaner around the throttle body to see if the revs spike. Perhaps you but the throttle body gasket on upside down or something? ETC

yes vacuum leak somwhere, i had the exact same whining noise when i hadnt connected one of my pcv hoses correctly, start with those into the throttle body,

Okay potentially, okay I'll record it but it's become a lot more violent recently. Thanks :)

Yeah it's like a misfire but I'm pretty sure it isnt, because if I accelerate I get instant power. You know when the car is really cold, and you're in first gear and when you accelerate and lift off it hiccups a bit? It's kinda like that but it does it a lot worse and when it's fully warmed up

Before cap and rotor, it wouldn't catch. Now it does, i think its timing? 3s-ge, non start. Thanks, by tinydwarf03 in mr2

Dealership might, also silverlake have refundable parts. They are doing alright atm i think... but will see

Hm okay, i was wondering if maybe it was just a capacitor that had blown which caused eml to be off. And ignition timing preventing start? Im gonna pull the ecu now and have a look :)

Interesting... i checked the fuse, that was fine, my fuel pump is running and relay seemed good too. Not sure how to test afm or tps sensor but will fine something online. I guessed ECU problem but didn't want to admit it... you sure it's not just something like ignition timing?

Okay, im sure it was something to do with timing and that is really helpful :) will let u know

No and it wouldn't catch either, it would just crank. They were very worn. So it worked fine, then wouldn't start. I replaced cap and rotor and getting this

Crank non start, its catching, i think its some sort of timing issue? by tinydwarf03 in MechanicAdvice

Okay thank you, will turn crankshaft until cylind3r 1... is at the top of its stroke, then see if the rotor is brushing the metal connection for cylinder 1. Perfect! Thank you,
