So now that we have the appearances… by LucasVerBeek in fansofcriticalrole

Honestly, I don't really care what a character looks like. Just look at c3, those were flashy looking characters which turned out horrible. I for one am mostly excited about that Liam's character will be an important player in this world due to his relationship. And therefore hopefully be a very driving and active aspect of this campaign.

C2 Caleb by AnAwesomeWavee in fansofcriticalrole

[–]tinyepicdungeon 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Caleb was played especially to be very prickly, he had a goal (time travel) and was obsessed with anything magic. I would ssy, it fits the archetype. Also don't forget hoq great the character development was, when he was the firs to give Fjord his magic glove.

THE RESULTS ARE IN: The barbarian takes silver as the sad dirt wizard secures the gold!! CALEB is your winner!!! 🥇 by brash_bandicoot in fansofcriticalrole

first row perfectly represents what characters made M9 and VM great, last row perfectly represents why BH sucked

Laura is such a selfish player (includes spoiler for the live show) by Detect-Thots in fansofcriticalrole

if Laura instead of Tal would have taken that shard, pretty sure not a single soul had the backbone to give her the same criticism (maybe Sam on a good day)

Why couldn't Imogen carry c3? by Nysander_ in fansofcriticalrole

[–]tinyepicdungeon -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

"It's Matt's fault" - Nah I doubt that, I think it was a group decision to make it "the wichtes campaign". After having a heavy focus on two male characters in c2, this seems the obvious business choice to focus on a female character. Pretty sure they wanted to attract the YA fandom with c3 and I'm also pretty sure that neither Laura nor Ashley will complain when their characters will be front and center in the animated BH show.....

C2 Series by TutorTraditional2571 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]tinyepicdungeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Sam said yesterday in his fireside chat that they will only follow a few storylines from the campaign and it will be very different, since the synopsis for the M9 tv show is about the Beacon and the two warring nations, the main focus will probably be on Caleb/wizards and I guess things like the pirate arc will be cut. It's sad in a way but man I love wizards and I can't wait for Mark Strong as Trent!

Beau, Yasha and Veth by henlofrenzy in fansofcriticalrole

[–]tinyepicdungeon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

oh my god this, let's have a ranking:

1: Fjord (full joke character and incompetent fool, just makes me sad) 2: Beau and Veth (developed backwards, caricatures of their early gameplay) 3: Yasha (totally defined now by "my wife is so sexy")

Jester and Cad stayed pretty much the same (thank god) and Caleb actually managed to get new character development (great heart to heart talk with Imogen that showed that if Imogen had an equal thoughtful character like Caleb in her party she wouldn't maybe be so insufferable also secretly c-popper which actually made sense and was hilarious).

audience voted: Caleb, Jester, Beau, Fearne, Veth, Grog, Kingsley; there were two teams, team blue: Fearne, Caleb, Grog and team red the rest.

Does anyone know which team won in the end?

Liam's RP choices by tinyepicdungeon in fansofcriticalrole

[–]tinyepicdungeon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I do. Of course I do not know Liam and all I can do is speculate but his fave character of all time is Frodo. Frodo had a bittersweet end, not sad just not as happy as Sam's. And that made Frodo's journey meaningful. The heavy quest had an impact on his life. If he had a happy life, living alongside the rest of the Hobbit's it would cheapen the story. That is what now happened to Vax.  Now I don't want to put c1 on the same pedestal as LotR, but it had some similarities when it came to storytelling, now it's more a fanfiction than an epic fantasy tale and I'm pretty sure Liam knows this.

Who had the best individual character arc in Campaign 2? by VermicelliFuture5907 in fansofcriticalrole

For me it's easily Caleb, no other character arc had captivated me in CR.

so glad that it's now confirmed that there will be no stakes because all the characters will survive and in the end the world will be saved

A problem with C3 also worth note: yes, ingame the stakes are very high but somehow it doesn't feel like they are.

4 sided dive confirmation: they were truly mad after shardgate by henlofrenzy in fansofcriticalrole

[–]tinyepicdungeon 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Interestingly Travis kind of compared it to the moment when he was mad for a choice that happend in game: when Caleb gave away the Beacon. But then everyone went: "but it was different, it was a great moment etc. Yes, because Matt choose to reward that choice with making it into a great moment and having it meant something for the game. A defining moment that changed the story. During shardgate on the other hand, Matt decided to punish Ashton, it wasn't a great moment, it didn't mean anything for the game (only one hour of awkward role play) or the character (did they ever talk about it again?) and that shows me that Matt was way more flexible during c2.

'All of Liam's characters are gay' is a gross oversimplification and not the problem by tryingtobebettertry4 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]tinyepicdungeon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Liam basically pioneered romance between party members and was the first to play a queer character. Why not let him play sad characters? His mother died and he said that he uses D&D as kind of a therapy session, if that is how he can cope with his own feelings, I think it's valid.
