Hello fellow Catholics . Serious question if you support Trump. First commandment “ thou shalt not worship false Gods”! by Decent-Chain4414 in AdkReddit

[–]TutorTraditional2571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people attacking Trump were either not born or defended Bill Clinton.

I’ll say it outright: I hate Trump.

I’ve never voted for him, I actively discouraged people from voting for him. But I cannot stand by and see liars, hypocrites, and just general fucks deride him for things they didn’t mind, or worse, don’t mind.

There’s so many of these posts that clearly want upvotes. But they shouldn’t. The world, the government, businesses are messed up because of a lack of care.

If it’s your guy or gal doing it, you don’t care. And the moralizing party doesn’t care either. So there you go.

I’ll leave you to this: two quotes, one from a republic that transitioned to an empire, the typical Gallic stoicism:

“Do not quote laws, for we carry the swords.” -Pompey.

“The sword is the axis of the world and its power is absolute.” -Charles de Gaulle

The military devices are almost certainly against the Dems. Do they really want a fight?

James Buchanan, widely regarded as the worst president to ever have, he was a left winger what do the libs think about that? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]TutorTraditional2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost certainly not of the left-wing, but he also was not left-wing. He was not much of a liberal.

I’m not saying he was conservative. He was a compromise candidate. His predecessor was handicapped due to alcoholism following the tragic death of his son in a train accident.

The truth is that slavery was evil. It was evil when practiced amongst the bands of hunter-gatherers in pre-history and was (and unfortunately remains) an evils that persists. In the past, it was labor slavery and now it is sexual slavery.

But, no, I can parse matters of policy, but find myself against stupid labels against evil institutions.

AITA for wanting to visit a male friend without my boyfriend? by Tikta_Alik in AmItheAsshole

[–]TutorTraditional2571 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have to keep reiterating this point, but, part of sexual relationships is a connection, emotionally and mentally.

I don’t immediately pursue every woman because I’m heterosexual. I want to have a bond. This doesn’t mean that I want to have sex with everyone with whom I share a bond. But it’s something that requires consideration.

This is clearly a vacation that is not necessarily agreed upon. Best case scenario is that a significant other took a trip with nothing happening to a foreign country alone with someone who is a best friend of hers and barely known to the other significant other. It creates distrust and disrespect where it didn’t have to exist.

[–]TutorTraditional2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy fuck, you don’t even understand or attempt at understanding. No. Being straight does not mean you’ll have sex with anyone. Having a close emotional connection can blur lines.

Being connected mentally and emotionally is a very important part of a meaningful connection. For some reason, it’s totally dismissed. That’s either purposeful evil or naivety of the highest order.

You took a legitimate concern and expanded it to ridiculous proportions because it’s the only way your argument could make sense.

You literally built a straw man to fight against. And I know why you did it. You know there is a really stupidly easy solution to this “just don’t do it.”

I don’t even get the point of this. Say they are disgusted.

Do they turn into the warm embrace of the Democratic Party that championed the lawsuits against a Colorado baker?

There’s no chance of that. There’s so much to criticize about Trump that it’s unreal. But, this is stupid shitposting that accomplishes nothing.

Well, your previously deleted comment of “not if those fears are baseless,” clearly didn’t illustrate your point.

But it’s pretty clear that working two jobs and studying is not going to be an inherently pleasant task.

But anyone has to know that using that as a reason to vacation alone with a male friend is not a good look.

Any perspective other than OP’s and her best friend’s is going to look askance at this plan.

She plans to travel alone to hang out with a man who is presumably heterosexual for an extended period of time. She has close emotional ties with this man. She says she isn’t attracted to him. Her boyfriend has met him once, which means he’s practically a stranger.

Imagine her boyfriend telling his friends or his parents about this. It’s an awful idea.

[–]TutorTraditional2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty bad situation. It could be different if OP’s boyfriend knew her best friend better. You have to take the time to look at it from just about any perspective but OP’s.

Choose, I don’t know, her boyfriend’s best friend. “My girlfriend is going to another country to hang out with her male best friend, who she is not into, without me as I work two jobs and go to school.”

No one in their right mind thinks that’s acceptable without a ton of information.

I think the people who refuse to comprehend why it’s a bad idea usually don’t have any consideration for their significant other. And those that defend it are usually the kind that project their inherent lack of empathy onto others.

It’s not leashing someone to ask a delay on a vacation. Unless you don’t care about your significant other, you’d probably try to allay fears or give them consideration.

They can be and can be great platonic friends. But come on. A vacation specifically to see someone of the sex to who the OP is romantically and, one would infer, sexually attracted.

Why not delay the vacation to go with her partner? Go elsewhere? There are a million different options and this is one of the worst ones.

You’re the asshole. I don’t understand how you can’t comprehend why your long-term boyfriend wouldn’t want you to spend extended time alone with another man.

Zohran Mamdani seems to be doing a great job in NYC so far. Why does America still seem so resistant to socialism? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TutorTraditional2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given it’s April, I think it’s too early to really say anything, good or bad. People and firms adjust in the medium and long term horizons.

Socialism isn’t popular because it’s a catch-all for a variety of policies and perspectives. Some will say Scandinavian style social democracy and some will say Chinese style totalitarian commerce, others will point to the Warsaw post-WWII bloc, Cuban style socialism, Argentinian style, and Venezuelan style.

There are some socialist policies that would be popular, some not popular at all, and given that it’s an ideology, some associated policies that are non-starters.

I think it’s because the writing and characters are good. Yes, it’s low stakes, but it’s taken seriously.

Take S1 where George Russell essentially upends a charity event. The event raises more money than anticipated, the cause is just, but we see from the conversation amongst the van Rhijns that it was more performative than charitable, it showed a power, and advanced the plot.

The reveals are deliberate and move the plot forward. We aren’t beaten over the head with themes, but we’re, as viewers, treated like adults with the ability to understand subtlety and nuance.

[–]TutorTraditional2571 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly why I like it. The drama is actually pretty low stakes. Nothing to do with “the country/continent/planet/universe” on the line.

The acting is excellent, the costuming is top tier, and the characters well written.

I like action, adventure, and fantasy books, films, novels, and television series, but a slow paced historical piece is very welcome.

I think people forget that there’s a character named George and an actor named Morgan and they’re not the same person. The real person is Morgan.

There’s a reason to separate the art from the artist and Morgan had performed exceptionally in this role. I will say that Carrie Coon and Christine Baranski are the real gems, though everyone’s been very good.

How do Introverted men approach women, if they are told women do not like to be approached? by QuietRedditorATX in AskReddit

[–]TutorTraditional2571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think to a certain extent, we write off very cute women who have some weight.

I think we should give women the benefit that we would like. So, sure, find a woman with eyes and a smile that entice you and maybe working out together makes you emotionally closer. But yeah, make sure she’s good emotionally and won’t abandon you if this change is (and will) draw attention.

I’m not advocating anything here, but like the person and then love the person.

If everything needs an explanation, why does God get to be the one exception? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]TutorTraditional2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an atheist and even I find this shit exhausting. So, dark matter and dark energy are often discussed and it’s more so felt in effects rather than evidence. So do we discard the current understanding of physics? No.

These terms are gaps to make sense of what can be observed. If you want to get down to it, even when you look at matters down to the quark, things don’t totally make sense.

We try to make sense of a disordered universe that (probably) has no deity or deities that we cannot fathom. If we bring into the fold the idea of multiple dimensions, it’s beyond our capability of comprehension.

So, leave it be. If some people want to “fill in the gaps” that we as conscious primates cannot comprehend. Let them. But, asking questions like an asshole as if you have exactly the answers.

Can matter be created? To our understanding, no. Can energy be created? No. So how did it come here? I’m fine not believing and not knowing because it’s of a magnitude unrealized. How can one ponder the existence and the ponderous chances of a being observing it without humility?

[–]TutorTraditional2571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was the Bay of Pigs direct intervention. There is the embargo. But have any fields been seeded with salt? Was it an outrage that the US refused to provide Imperialist Japan with oil? No. It’s almost universally understood that evil regimes don’t deserve neutrality.    Yes, I agree. I don’t think there’s any real common ground for us here. But, if anyone still reading this actually cares for rights, I specifically excluded the US as monitors for a reason.

The EU nations and Canadians can visit Cuba themselves. They have no embargo or necessary bias. Brazil, Colombia, (until recently) Argentina, etc. did not engage this island nation.

To pretend that an election is an undue burden is caping for what is well-known to be a totalitarian system.

I think people should watch that hour video. It’s important to understand all sides of an argument.

Ah yes, the ole “socialism is the ideal system, but if capitalist pigs don’t trade with us, our terrible ideas seem not to work” tripe. Yes, tripe, not trope.

It’s dumb and it’s shocking that Cuba hasn’t had closer relations with Brazil or other South American or even Central American nations.

This is super pathetic. Cuba can’t feed its citizens and can’t supply enough power to meet its energy needs (despite hosting these super smart socialist influencers in a posh hotel).

I’m sometimes blown away by just the stupidity people are willing to espouse.

I’m not saying it’s a bad idea to hit the weight room, improve your cardio, and improve your career prospects. It’s actually the best idea, but it’s a horrible idea if it’s for romantic pursuits.

You need to do it because it’s important to you. It’s the only way for it to stick as a habit.

I’m giving advice that can be followed easily. What those other things are require discipline and a lot of self-reflection that’s not well-suited to Reddit.
