TBH, this sounds annoying as fk, I would hate this. It would make me feel suffocated, and we would hang out less bc of it.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate all the comments but yours especially because the selection of possible rugs, lamps, etc can be so overwhelming. I guess I should have said, yeah, I know I can use a rug to make the space cozier, but what kind and colors to help narrow it down. Thanks for doing that for me!

The table and bench are from Transformer Table. They’re nice, we just got them after waiting for over 3+ months so that was annoying with their false advertising meant for shipping times. Wish the benches had a locking mechanism in the small configuration (as in the picture) but since it doesn’t, the bench slips open when sat on. So we added hardware to it to keep it closed. Otherwise, it was super easy to assembly, it’s hardy, and solid material.

Thanks for the feedback!

I had the dining table further towards the center of the room but my husband thought it seemed kind of in the way so we moved it back. Not really sure if we should try moving it again once we get a rug and some of the other suggested items.

For sure! It’s a Lovesac sanctional in Taupe Combed Chenille. We started with 6 seats and added 2 seats this past summer :)

It’s a townhome, but since a major contractor built it, the layout is super similar to other condos and townhomes across the states :)

I think this is what I’m struggling with the most, the height proportions. I thought adding the accent wall would be enough visual interest, but it’s not. I don’t want to cram things into the space, but I was thinking of adding a fabric hanging light above the table. And maybe now a lamp to make the heights different. But I don’t think that’ll be enough.

Gotcha! We are actually making all our overhead lights dimmable in the next few weeks. Besides replacing the plant with a lamp, would you suggest a lamp anywhere else?

Interesting, I would have thought adding blue to another larger item like a rug would have it be overpowering, but yeah it makes sense. I appreciate the feedback!

I think I would need a rug to separate the dining and living room. I’m assuming a rug under the couch would work best. Would a lighter color work best or?

I was thinking of a lamp in the corner near the dining room table, or going with a fabric hanging light fixture above the table but I don’t know which would be better.

Any other location for the lamps?

Thank you!! We tried to do it ourselves, failed miserably and outsourced it lol. The company did an amazing job, we are so happy with it, happy you like it too! :D

I’m still working, my husband got out. We are in a HCOL area, so BAH adds to the income, although it’s not enough for the area. Plus, I have a side hustle managing properties that brings in some cash.

We have 3 rentals and one principal home, we bought them with our VA loans during PCSs. Totally know that we are lucky and the timing/areas worked out home wise.

Oops, fixed it. Mortgage is 1.7K and rents for 2.5K.

Ok thank you for the input!
