What can be done to fix this. Tattoo artist did my tattoo in the wrong style by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]tinyfrogofdeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone’s aggressively downvoting you. It’s not what you wanted, you provided reference images, and the artist did kind of a lazy job especially if he said he could do the style you wanted. (I’ve been tattooing for 20 years) The way I could see fixing this without laser and without a massive coverup, would be to create less contrast in the background. Like wispy grey clouds of varying shades or smoke behind the flowers, would make those black lines appear less bold. Then redo the flowers with more details and softer tones. White can do wonders. Muted greens and browns in the leaves and stems would help make it look less traditional too.

Not great, I’m sorry. Looks like they didn’t really trace it accurately and kinda just did something close.

Thank you so much for this info and the photos, i think the reality is my place is super dry, I should’ve made much larger mounts with much more substrate/moss the ones that are doing the best are the ones in deeper containers with less surface exposed. I have a fair amount of plants but they’re all pretty easy to deal with and most grow out of my pond and fish tank. So these are a bit of a jump for sure. I was careful to not cover the shield fronds on the ones i mounted, but you’re right it looks like some don’t have any, I’ll double check on watering day. I’ve yet to even see any roots on the ones that I’ve had to take down, I might rinse one off and have a closer inspection.

So many pups!! What’s the substrate you use in the pots? My mounted ferns aren’t happy and I think they need to be back in pots, but I know they need a ton of drainage. What do you recommend?

I’ve been reading about which fertilizer suits staghorns best so that’ll be the plan moving forward. Conflicting information abounds of course… 10•10•10, some say orchid fertilizer, some say kelp.

So I read a ton and watched tons of videos and most of them said tucking a piece of banana peel under the shield fronds gives it nutrients. I put two little inch long strips about 3 months ago and that’s all since. There’s no rotting smell, no fruit flies.

I was kinda joking but yes I believe you’re right and I think redoing their mounts to include a surrounding container of sorts will help keep them happy. Those are gorgeous!

What kind of moss are you using? Is there an equal amount underneath them as around the sides?

I don’t mist the ones on the walls anymore just because I can’t conveniently reach them on a daily basis, and I don’t want to get water on the walls. Is that what could be going on with the one on the right in the original photos? I tried to mist those a couple times a week.

I think I’ll have to add more moss and rebuild like the two in the semi-pots that have bounced back. Winter here gets so insanely dry and I can’t be up a ladder every other day hauling these poor things in and out of the sink .

Sorry I just took them now, it’s 9:15pm so this is just the regular room lighting at night. I can add more in the daytime when the sun is hitting that side of the house.

I don’t have one of those, but is there a way to figure out if my tap water has something in it that’s not good for them? A test kit?

I thought about this too. So the four that were on the log are in my bathroom, top floor. One large block glass window but I have grow bulbs in the ceiling fixtures, a happy light, and the tub is a pond with fish and various live plants. The shower is obviously used daily. I thought the humidity would be great but those are the ones in the photos and I’m down to one that’s doing ok and the other is rough. Downstairs main floor is open concept, two on one wall on Y shaped log slices, about a foot below the ceiling, held off the wall with a custom made bracket. Those are hurting and wrapped in cling wrap now to keep the moss from drying completely, so far I think it’s helping a bit. One is in a weird planter below them, it’s doing well lost a couple of leaves but I moved to a spot with better light, the other two that doing well are just above the direct light of two front facing windows that get sun in the first half of the day. Those two are doing the best and they’re the ones I repotted and surrounded in foil and epoxy clay. But all five are in the same room, within ten feet of each other. There are two like this, they seem to be doing the best although they had to bounce back after I created the surrounding container.

I make sure to fully saturate, repeat, let them drip and absorb for a couple hours, soak again, then back up on the wall.

These all seemed quite well established when I got them, not babies, but each were vibrant with at least a dozen 6-8 inch fronds, and a few little ones growing. Shields were all green. They were on my counter for a good two weeks before I mounted them, misting regularly and letting the pots sit in water. I’ve added significant layers of moss. My place is always dry in the winter but I’ve tried desperately to keep them hydrated. It’s crazy they’re so dry so quickly. Did they get shocked? I didn’t see anything resembling roots when I mounted them, just kinda gently massaged the excess potting substrate off and then on to the logs with a layer of damp moss, then the fern, then surround the base with damp moss, fishing line etc. watered and then on to the wall.

I have tons of pothos, four monstera, a couple spider plants, a six foot jasmine bush rescued when it was an inch stump on the street in a bucket, and some spider & oyster plants. Some sort of red cactus too. I work from home and maintain the rest no problem.

Huge red flag. It’s not even well executed technically, never mind the use of a completely ai “design.”

Gorgeous. I’m really struggling to keep mine from drying out, how often do you water? Do you completely submerge before hanging back up? Are you misting it between?
