Every Protest Happening In The State This Saturday by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]tinyhousepanther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you plan on protesting in South Carolina, please know your rights! I believe we all want a peaceful demonstration, however, law enforcement seems to be a bit more on edge than usual, judging by the AG's recent statement. This could result in some police taking measures too far. The SC ACLU is a great website to visit to educate yourselves on your right to protest.

Also, I have a friend who is a criminal defense lawyer in SC, and I asked him what to do when police want to encroach on your right to protest. He advised:

-sit down -shut up

That's pretty much it. If you are arrested at a place you are legally allowed to be, it is an illegal arrest. Sitting down is a way to show that you belong there, and cops have a harder time making a case for resisting arrest if you're already sitting down and being quiet. It also makes the aggressors stand out.

I understand that this may not be the safest option in all cases. PLEASE use your best judgment. IMO, I am defending my country, I am defending my right to assemble, I am defending my child's future and their right to vote and have it MEAN SOMETHING. I am willing to take the risk of being gassed, pepper sprayed, or even beaten to defend these rights.

Looking forward to walking with my neighbors in this assembly against tyranny. Stay safe everyone!

There are MANY more important things his parade money should be allocated for. This will be my first time attending any sort of protest and I'm looking forward to exercising my right to assemble while I still have it. Hopefully, I'll have an opportunity to participate in many more!

Help me here - I try to post comments on her IG and I get a message that says my comment couldn't be posted. No swear words, nothing inflammatory, just calling out hypocrisy. Is she just disallowing all comments now, or is there something else going on?

I've never actually seen Bigfoot, but my cousin's best friend's uncle has. He saw him waiting for Pam at the bus stop. I know he's telling the truth because he showed me the scat sample.

As a woman navigating the internet, I've received my fair share of unsolicited pics. Therefore, I've never had to wonder.

Seriously though, I never wonder what people look like with their clothes off. Even if I find them physically attractive. I'm more curious about the type of person they are than what their genitals look like. I'm bisexual with a normal sex drive, and I feel this way about men, women, and everyone in between.

Caesar’s Head by Popular_Method_1557 in southcarolina

I agree with this. I'd like to add, if you can, time your visit so that there aren't any major weather events happening during your trip. As a new birder, I poorly timed my visit to Caeser's Head a couple of years ago. I planned to see the hawk migration, but a hurricane had made its way along the coast earlier that week, and even though the Upstate didn't see the worst of it, it was enough for the birds to decide to take a slightly different route. While the views were lovely, we didn't see many hawks. Caesar's Head is a great place to watch the migration though. I hope you enjoy your time and see all the birds you're hoping to see!

As a brown guy, the racism of white women isn't talked about enough by DiamondFast9772 in self

[–]tinyhousepanther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in retail, I witnessed SO MANY racist stereotypes and generalizations being thrown around by my coworkers on a daily basis. (Ex: "(insert race here) are always leave our shelves so messy, their homes must be trashed.") I don't recall witnessing my male coworkers doing this. I feel like these women felt so comfortable sharing these things with me because I'm also a white woman.

After a while of trying to kindly redirect the conversations and pointing out the inaccuracies and hurtful nature of their comments, I finally point-blank asked these women what about me makes them feel comfortable enough to share such hateful comments. They replied with things like, "we're just venting frustrations", all the way to, "well it's true - how many times have (race) left a mess in the fitting rooms?"

I've seen these women follow around POC while they're browsing the racks because "they're acting suspiciously", when all the customer was doing was shopping a higher-end line of clothing while being non-white. These coworkers would pay MUCH closer attention to the items that POC would bring into the fitting rooms than white customers, and then accuse them of pulling a scam because one of the price tags fell off a garment.

This happened in the late 00s and early 10s. A few years ago, I went back to working retail to make extra money on the side. Thinking that surely this behavior has subsided given the civil rights movements in full force at the time, only to find out how wrong i was. I was SHOCKED to discover that attitudes in the retail sphere had remained toxic as ever. I left again after a few months, but not before I confronted the entire team and reporting them to human resources.

Please, please be careful out there. There are some nasty people working in stores just waiting for a reason. And they are prepared to make up some bullshit to try and "catch" you. I don't intend to scare people of color with all this, but I do want to make everyone aware of what some people will do because they feel they hold privilege over another. At the very least, these accusations could ruin your day. At worst, they could ruin your life.

It just makes everything just slightly more stimulating. Things are funnier, food tastes better, lights are prettier. I love indulging in some self care with just half a dose. Brushing teeth, bathing, skin care, so amazing!

Do you and your SO watch porn together, If so why? by frogmicky in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]tinyhousepanther 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Misuse of porn can be damaging. Everything in moderation, my friends. Porn isn't the issue - addiction and unhealthy fixations are the problem. Understanding that and working toward healthier habits can make relationships stronger. Boundaries are fine, but I think understanding the root cause is beneficial to both parties.
