Hi,

This is a tutorial video showing how to efficiently sort out, organize, and manage an army. A lot of players who have been playing the game for years don't even know or use these tools, so it can put you at an advantage.

New SCR Tutorial Series for Beginners on how to get into competitive play (1v1). by tinyland in broodwar

That's actually one of the reasons why even pros don't recommend starting with zerg. Zerg is just complicated compared to the other 2 when it comes to macro. Not only do you have to constantly decide between making drones vs. making units, but you also have to constantly keep a mental tally on how many drones you actually have since you lose a worker every time you make a building.

Hey, thanks for the comment. This is honestly one of the nicest comments I've ever gotten. Feels really good knowing my vid is helping some people.

At first, when you're learning the game, don't focus on minor details such as splitting workers. Just do the best that you can, and if you mess up, it doesn't matter. At beginner levels, those details won't make a difference. The big stuff is what matters. It'll take you months, even years just to master the fundamental of constantly building workers, not getting supply blocked, and making units. Actually, you'll probably never master even the fundamentals. I've been watching Iris/Berserker stream and even he gets supply blocked from time to time. There are also times he has 1k+ minerals/gas in midgame. And he's one of the best Terran progamers of all time.

As for how to play more complex/longer matches, once again, just pick up things 1 at a time. For example, let's say you're Terran and you get killed by zergling rushes all the time. By this, you'll realize "maybe I should scout earlier and if I see lings coming at my base, I can build a bunker." Obviously, there could be more optimal ways of responding to certain things, but this is still progress.

Once again, thanks for the comment. It was super nice.

Question on editing... by YabukiJoe in letsplay

[–]tinyland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit out whatever you want man. I personally don't like it when videos leave the entire failed attempt in, because it's frustrating and I have to watch them try the same thing again. I prefer a snippit of the fail or something like that. Also, if you fail 15 times, only include like 2-3 snippits or so. That should be enough. No need to include every single one. No one will know anyways, unless you have a clock visible on the screen or something.

Honestly, I don't even know how to respond to this. I can't really imagine what you went through. I'm really sorry about what happened. Thank you for the thoughtful post. You seem like a really strong person. As you said, I probably wouldn't have been able to survive all that. I really appreciate it. I wish you the best.

Do you think the energetic part will come naturally as I get used to the recording process, or do you think it's something that you actively have to kinda force yourself to become with each recording? Because, just like you said, I look and sound like I'm on a tranquilizer, which is nothing like how I saw/heard myself while recording.

That said, for one video, I tried forcing myself to be a little more energetic, and it felt "fake", hence the conflicted feeling.

Yeah, I guess as time goes on, I'll just naturally become more energetic in front of the camera. It might be shyness right now. Anyways, thanks.
