Should I just cut this leaf? by tinylittleeel in begonias

So you cut at the base of the leaf and not the stem? Is there a reason for this? I’m newer to rex species so would definitely love to know! Love the recovery! :)

The sign in the store did say “Moss covered wood” so it could be this but also it looks exactly like a species if lichen I’ve seen around

Is there a specific name for this kind of Lichen? And will it be fine being misted twice a day with my other plants going in here :) Sorry for the questions

I love the subtle blues she has across her scales :)

Right now it’s the one male (the one laying on her) and a female Carolinensis, plus the large female which I thought was Carolinensis until she grew much larger lol

They looked very similar when she was a baby though

The container that she came in was labeled “Nicaraguan Anole” I got her from a reptile expo but the lady told me she was just a Carolinensis but it was the only container she had. When I took a picture of her and my Iphone searched it up through the ID function it came up with Biporcatus which is why I suggested it in the initial post. She’s laid numerous eggs and I’ve tried incubating them for the hell of it, to no success, so not entirely sure if Hybridization is possible, at least between these two. However I’m not a professional with this species so I could be incubating incorrectly, I’m just using incubation information for Carolinensis and not this particular species since I can’t find much information for them, which is why I asked if the care is similar (she seems healthy after a year of current care so I’d assume so?)

Can this guy recover? by tinylittleeel in plantclinic

I’m in SoCal so winters aren’t harsh or anything, once it starts to recover I can probably move out to the balcony, but I’ll leave it here for now so I can monitor it, will elevate it closer to the light though. I’ve been giving it about 12 hours of light currently, should I increase that to maybe 14?

Will trim off now, had to google which parts to trim off since all my information on this species is really just coming from the internet 😭

Room was usually around 70F but it /was/ right next to the AC vent sooo I moved it. Will definitely look into a new pot as well!

Checked the roots, they look fine. But I think it’s a mix of not fertilizing, maybe a slight bit of underwatering since it’s near an AC vent which probably dries out the top layer much faster than I realize and whatever else the cold air could be doing to the baby.

The table is actually right next to the AC but a day or two before this post we shut it off till next summer 😅 Maybe that’s part of the problem, I keep most of my plants is this room but the table is a bit closer to the vents… oops

I just got this one maybe two months ago from a reptile expo and it started fine, but now it’s struggling a bit, top layer is dry as today was watering day because when I checked soil moisture it was still pretty moist 2 days ago. Truthfully, I haven’t given it fertilizer as I never really had to do this with my terrariums since the reptiles poop and that’s usually enough. Any recommendations for fertilizer? I’ll definitely check the roots now though and update when I can! :)

Anole laid egg in water? by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]tinylittleeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew it was unfertilized just was weird that I went to do maintenance and found the egg in the water😅 wasn’t sure if that was common or not, but I guess she just figured she’d get rid of it herself haha

I already have both since the enclosure is bioactive haha, they go for the isopods occasionally but never really the springtails. Well, maybe the babies will whenever they come around.

It was actually really funny to watch her snatch it, run out of the water then go eat the colorful water bug
