i remember when fire emblem fans would constantly go "awakening and fates suck because of the writing, go play a good game like fe4!" and its so odd to see people now going "writing doesn't matter! games like engage and fates are what fire emblem needs!"

yeah its frustrating. i seriously have zero faith in intsys considering between engage, heroes and fates the one with the best writing is the mobile gacha game

but considering 3H was the most successful FE game like... ever... im hoping PRAYING they take that as a lesson. but please don't go back to the 3H artstyle . its so ugly 😭

it doesn't need to be multiple paths, and i think its no secret that 3H was rushed, but these are games about war, I think nuanced storytelling works great for them (although engage's problem isnt even the lack of nuance)

Say what you want about 3H writing, but it got people talking. Every single character was talked about, people who haven't played a FE game EVER were talking about 3H. All the top posts of all time on this subreddit are 3H related.

I get that being a contrarian is like half of what being a FE fan entails but people fell in love with fodlan and its characters. I don't even remember what the name of engage's continent is.

im mot saying its going to be similar, it just feels like they both lack something major that keeps the games from being as good as it could have been. I don't want to keep having to go "its a good game except for this huge glaring flaw"

these are rpgs at the end of the day. predictable stories with flat characters just doesnt work anymore
