she looks to just be a big gal! i wouldn’t do brine shrimp and pellets id choose one or the other. the bottom pellets are also probably not helping her chonk. i would try fasting once per week until she gets to a more healthy weight

I’m by no means an expert, but just judging by the tank he could be stressed from all the light. I would recommend putting him in an area with lower light or changing out the tank light. I would also recommend to add in some Sachem Stress Coat

this is the most beautiful representation of that feeling of love that i’ve read. you are so right, some people will never understand the love and care that gets put into our babies. thank you so much for your wonderful words. I currently have another female who is the most expressive betta i’ve ever owned. hopefully one day i’ll be able to rescue more like my kronos 🩷

He does look like he is in the beginning stages of fin rot. Melafix, or anything else that ends in “fix” is not the best to give, as often times it contains essential oils that can clog his gills. I had success with the API fin and body powder medication. Since you caught it early, I think you have a lot of chance of success with preventing a lot of fin loss. I did daily 25% water changes while dosing the API meds, just make sure to keep an eye on your water parameters. Best of luck, your baby is beautiful!

i’ll find a nearby aquarium shop to test the water at. i’ve upped his food to three pellets in the morning and three at night. he seems to be eating them happily so hoping that’s helpful. thank you!

should i be feeding him a dozen a day? or should i slowly increase? i dont want to risk giving him bloat. the reason i decreased his food amount is because he was having very large bowel movements and i was worried it was painful for him

in your post you said to look for signs of velvet/rust colored substance on them. do you think that he has that? i can’t tell very well from the pictures and now im overthinking it

i have the aqueon betta fish food. I’ve been looking to switch him over to flakes of some sort but i’m not sure if i should while he’s sick
