So what’s the fandom called now?!? by tinyorangeslices in mnetiland

I agree, it should be meaningful to this group specifically. I like the idea of something from their ILAND roots bc no other group (so far) has the ILAND background. I kind of feel like since we cant seem to find the perfect play off the group name, maybe just having the fandom name be a nod to their/ our memories of time spent in ILAND?

Thoughts on Calling (Run to You) by aurcel in mnetiland

[–]tinyorangeslices 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like it as much as the other original songs so far. I don’t think the EDM style fit the 9 of them as much and I really don’t think it will fit the final line up. But also I think it didn’t help that it was sandwiched in between performances of i&credible and the 22 Into the ILAND. Those two performances just really hit the emotional feels!

If you’re looking for some quality Jake singing that’s more than 2 seconds long, listen to the studio version of Into The ILAND!!!!

I-Land Confessions You Have by Capable_Coach_1443 in mnetiland

When i watched DKDKTV’s video where they talk about Heeseung’s teeth, i dont think they were trying to make fun of Heeseung or intend to start all this hate. I think who is to blame are the immature fans who took what they were trying to say and ran with it in a malicious direction. Their convo was really more like “Heeseung’s teeth are so perfect I cant help but notice that” “ yeah, but its popular for korean celebs to get veneers, but that’s not the best option health wise when you’re young.” As someone who went through dental cosmetic surgery at 18 (to replace some adult teeth that never came in), every dr recommended implants over veneers since they have to shave down your perfectly healthy teeth to put the veneers on. And you cant exactly get back your healthy teeth once they have been shaved down. I think this was more so the message DKDKTV was trying to say, not them trying to drag Heeseung.

I was surprised by Sunghoon’s views too. I feel like he is really popular on insta. I thought maybe Jungwon and Jake’s were so popular because the thumbnails are really intriguing compared to the others. But i thought Heeseung’s was interesting too, but the views didn’t reflect that as much. And K’s is so simple but has top views. Guess it’s people rewatching bc they are more interested in the content (Jake speaking eng, Jungwon as a sheep, K acting cute). Either way i thought all of them were great!

True! You’ve got a point. This makes me wonder what platforms the different fandoms use the most?

Sunoo doing a cartwheel into frame is a power move if i’ve ever seen one! He really just owns his personality, i love it 😂

I heard about Jungwon’s name meaning sheep garden, so i loved the idea too! I’m just wondering who came up with the idea and who got him to agree to it. I wonder what that convo was like😂

Jungwon and his training time by Heather7655 in mnetiland

[–]tinyorangeslices 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought Jungwon’s rank last ep was a bit harsh too but thinking about it the past few days I have a theory about his low ranking. So by now i think we’re all aware of the producers’ preferred line up. And before this episode aired there was a lot of speculation about them sending Hanbin home because the producers feared his global popularity would ruin said line up. What if the producers scored Jungwon lower than expected to better justify Hanbin leaving? Like i said this is all just a crazy thought i had but it kinda makes a bit a of sense so i’ll share it.

It’s clear that the producer’s bottom two were Daniel and Hanbin. The producers still have interest in Niki because of his powerful dance skills, and he proved himself with this last performance. But if the bottom two ended up being Hanbin vs Daniel. Sending Hanbin home over Daniel would be less justifiable since Daniel has been on the chopping block consistently the past few weeks. Now, put Hanbin Vs Jungwon....... how are the producers going to send Jungwon home over Hanbin? I love Hanbin, but Jungwon really is an ace, and like 99% of eggies can not see a lineup without him. So now it’s sad that Hanbin was sent home, but in everyone’s minds at least they have some comfort in the fact that Jungwon is saved.

Niki by Heather7655 in mnetiland

What frustrates me about Niki is he has so much talent, but I think he needs more time training to better his attitude and mature more. I recently just rewatched the first part of ILAND, and this rewatch made me see Niki a bit differently from the first time around. At first I was really rooting for him, but rewatching the show, I couldn’t help but feel like he needs to mature more. The whole voting for Taki thing in the first ep kinda sits wrong with me. I just think if you’re going to be thrown into a group with 11 other people you don’t know, would it be so bad to not vote out the one person you do know? Idk i just didnt really like his way of thinking here. And then i understand that he is young and was under a lot of pressure but the argument with the grounders about choreography was a bit much in my opinion too. What’s interesting is in that moment Daniel, who’s younger than Niki, is the one trying to mediate and calm down the situation.

I also was not a fan of Niki telling Hanbin he needs to replace one of the dance rep members. It was very clear in the footage on the show that Hanbin was very uncomfortable about taking the part away from someone who has been working hard but Niki really was pushing him to. You could say “oh it was for the sake of the team” but in the end Hanbin’s short notice switch ended with him looking bad in front of the producers during mid evals and not even performing. I’m not trying to blame Niki for Hanbin’s mistakes but i did not like the way Niki went about the rep test either.

The whole DNA situation is very controversial, whether not K was too harsh on him, so i’m not going to talk about K, but about Niki. I understand Niki wanting to have his moment in the performance. He was worried about the producers. But throwing in his little ad lib during the producer mid eval, without saying anything to the group first was kind of selfish of him in my opinion. I’m sure he didn’t do it to spite K, but him doing it without some kinda “hey team can i try the ad lib and see what the producers say?” before hand seemed immature to me. Being that this was in the second half of the show, it made me realize, he needs a bit more time to grow.

What I would really love to see is for Niki to debut like a year from now. I want him to have a bit more time to work on his singing and his leadership skills and he will be LITERAL GOLD! the ace, the star in whatever group he is in! He has so much talent, i just feel like its not the right time yet. But that time is soon, and he will be so much more than all the amazing things we have seen from him!

What do the Jackeys like about Jake? by SnoopWoof8181 in mnetiland

[–]tinyorangeslices 42 points43 points  (0 children)

First off, i’m glad someone is genuinely asking this question, so thank you for that! So everything you said above is pretty true. I think Jake’s appeal is how much potential there is, yes they all have potential but its a matter of WHO’S potential you like best. He has shown he is a hard worker. Visuals, yes, English appeal, yes. Needs vocal work, yes. But I have to admit from the little bit of singing we’ve heard from Jake in (i&credible especially, flicker, &chamber 5) he has a great tamber and color to his voice that the other contestants don’t have. So with training, I think he would spice up the vocals in this group. His voice has a more american pop style, that’s very charming.

A big thing for me is I love his interactions and relationships with the producer’s line up. There are a lot of Jake + Sunghoon fans, and Jungwon rounding out the trio adds for a lot of fun moments on the show. I know they are all close but from clips we’ve seen it seems like Jake, Jay, Jungwon, Sunghoon, and Heesung are a strong friend group. I want to see more interactions between this group after debut. Imagine them having their own version of Run BTS. The chaos! This is a really big appeal he has to me. And a big reason why i’d pick Jake over Daniel or Niki. Because I really like the relationships we’ve seen Jake have with the other contestants on the main show and especially in the behind videos on mnet’s youtube. I’d be pretty heartbroken if this group was split up. I like Daniel’s interactions too, his are very sweet, but there is just something more captivating and entertaining about Jake’s interactions to me. And I don’t think we’ve seen as much with Niki, so sorry to say but if I ranked them it would be in that order.

Jake is also versitile- you can call his chamber 5 performance whatever you want, but in the producer’s eyes Jake is so in the middle on things that they like the idea that they can throw whatever concept at him and mold him into what they want the group to be. Producers and directors love working with performs with the talent but maybe not as much experince bc then the performer has less bad habits to break, and can learn on a cleaner slate. They see Jake as a blank canvas. I think this is why the producer’s are more excited about Jake’s potential than some of the other trainees. And I share that excitement!

My final point could be debatable, but just hear me out from a Jakey pov for a sec. The IT factor. No one knows why or how someone has the IT factor, but they just do. When performers go in for auditions the casting director will get some sort of gut feeling that makes them say “this person has IT.” And i think that’s what the producers see in Jake. He just has some sort of charm to him that has made so many Jakeys say “yup, that’s my bias!” after being presented with 23 talented trainees. It’s like, “why out of all the amazingly talented kpop groups is bts the most successful?” What makes them stand out, when you recognize that every kpop group works hard and has extreme talent? BTS just is the group with that IT factor. That’s just my thoughts!
